Tea thread!
Grab out your teacups and drink some. I have one question though, do you remove the excess leaves from the cup? I personally dont.

Excess leaves? What sort of strainer are you using?

Alternatively, what sort of quality tea are you using?

I have one of these that I put over the cup and pour into. That gets the small leaves out that pass through the ceramic holes in the teapot.

This kinds of. I tend to use rather big leaves but I am careless and some end up getting into the tea. But I kind of like them in there.

I had peppermint tea tonight for my stomach but I don't think that really counts as tea. I'm thinking of having some earl grey tomorrow, but there's nothing particularly special about that.

Hm, I was looking at a couple of those at the local (relatively speaking, it's technically 450 miles away) tea store. Would you happen to know the difference between the regular kind and the king of silver needles, all rolled-up-like?

I guess I'm not getting the best.
I'm using up a stash I got mailed from a certain company to my house, but they were bought by the much inferior company teavana.

Oh, I wasn't calling it the king of silver needles as a judgment call or anything, I've had neither. That's its actual name, King of Silver Needles.
Apparently they stopped carrying the non-king kind though, so I guess it's moot.

Ah, quotation marks and capitalization makes a world of difference for titles.
And mmkay, if they removed a lower version, I'm not sure, then.
I've only had two white teas, unfortunately. I shall get something different when I run out of my current container.
Silver Needle - It's good
Generic - Hnnnng, someone bought it for me, but they obviously never drank tea in their life.

....Are you guys all in the US? Everyone else drinks tea after breakfast, lunch, supper and in-between, and really does not care about the size of their strainer or the precise temperature of the cup they're pouring it in.

Mind you, they still wouldn't drink the dried poo sold in typical US/Canadian grocery stores, methinks....

Yes, I am American
I avoid the kusotea by buying only from teashops.
And yes, I care enough about the temperature and brew time as to have it taste as good as it potentially can.
I hate people who overbrew and then dilute.

That thing is a godsend. Forget your fancy Chinese-made plastic warmers, THIS is what you should be getting. Major points for getting the coal/wood-fired version instead of electrical.

It is a:
- high-capacity hot water source
- teapot warmer
- heat source
...all in a convenient, energy-efficient, user-friendly shape that's been perfected through centuries of daily use.

YOU CAN'T HAVE A TEA PARTY WITHOUT ONE.
