Are they trying to create super immune bacterias/virusses or something?

the point isn't that Google actually spams people with this shit (it doesn't), the point is that Google has enough dirt on people to do so. Capabilities, not intentions.

And once a profit-driven organization gains the capability to screw you over for money or because your government tells it to, well, would you trust it not to?

>> No.7809485

>>7809479
Yes, because first of all I don't see an intention that would have more pros than cons unless you can point one out to me and I trust the paranoids likes you to finds valid enough evidence before it becomes a problem, but untill then... nope.

>capability to screw you over for money or because your government tells it to

All hypotheses with tinhat theories. Try a valid reason before you expect anyone to take you seriously.

>> No.7809507

>>7809485
how do you think google makes its money? behaviour analysis, that's how. they take your data (that's your emails), combine this with the stuff they get from Google Analytics, Recaptcha, Google Search cookies, Google Maps/Latitude and a billion other tracking services and build an educated guess to your interests and things you'd pay for, and they use it to show 'more relevant ads'.

this is all well-documented. it's not conspiracy theory, it's just stuff that Google admits to. and I personally find this creepy. Especially if it starts recommending things that I'd rather not let others know about.

And considering that social media and cloud computing is the way of the future, efforts to monetize will only become more overt from now on. they have the capability to screw you over (e.g. sell your physical location to advertisers so that personalized ads yelling your name can move from screen to screen as you do) and they stand to make a lot of money from it. why wouldn't they?

and here you are just like the people who use their real email on Hongfire. a little better, perhaps, but not much.

say some fucker comes into your house holding a hatchet. he doesn't do anything, just staring at you, hatchet at the ready. would you go about your business? turn around, go to bed?

They already do don't they? What does it matter? And what are these "others", what do they care?

I still don't see the evil in all this.

that's all very good for you. when that Google dude says that privacy is dead, he probably meant people like you, who just don't care that the whole world can see them jack off to furry scat porn.

well, the rest of us would rather live normal, private lives. we would also like the toilet door firmly closed while we do the number two.
