I don't get this first case at all. I'm apparently supposed to present evidence, but anything that logically would disprove Nitori's statements doesn't do so. I have three pictures, the camera, and the tripod.

I even tried presenting the tripod when she mentions the camera is Rinnosuke's (which at this point in the case doesn't make sense yet) but that gets me a penalty. Specifically, I'm at the part where Momiji notices something but isn't telling Aya (and vice versa).

Personally, I noticed that there was a picture taken that Nitori didn't mention (the up angle one, 23). The fact that the angle of the pictures is wrong (but no way to present that), and, well, a ton of other inconsistancies. I would brute force my way to find what specific combination the game wants, but with only 4 fans left and the fact that save slots put you back quite a ways, that would take quite a bit of time.

Is there a walkthrough for this game? Because this isn't even me being dense. This is the game being overly picky about what it wants in a particular part with pretty much zero clues. The PW games have always done that, but this is just ridiculous.

I am liking it otherwise, though.

I figured it out, and it was actually before that part. I didn't check the rubble pile in the first place apparently. I only clicked on the hole, but the description made it sound like it counted as the pile. Of course, clicking on the pile reveals nothing, so thats a bit irritating. But whatever.

The case itself was pretty easy and a lot more straightfoward than the Nitori case, which had a lot of parts where every single piece of evidence you had could be used to prove a single point.

>> No.7813070

What the hell was with the first case? It makes no sense. Even if Nitori modded the camera, that doesn't change the fact that Cirno destroyed it. She's guilty as fuck. Nitori committed other offenses, but that doesn't make Cirno any less guilty.

>> No.7813434

>>7813070

The point is that the camera did something to startle her or otherwise instigate the situation, so its different than simple wonton destruction. Even in real life that kind of thing would happen. If you just punched someone in the face, it would be assault. But if they jumped out of an alley yelling "oogabooga!" and scared you so much you struck by reflex, it would not.

Also, what the fuck is up with case 3-3 cross examination 1? I can't figure out any evidence to present at all. The bottle seems to do nothing, all of the notes seem to do nothing (even though I could probably prove the hand writing for the tip is the same as the forgery), and the photos of Tewi and the sake are supposedly irrelevant. At this point I'm just trying every evidence at every choice and reloading when I run out of fans. I've already used up every logical combination I could think of, so I went looking for a guide, which I couldn't find. Now I guess I'm going to spend the next twenty minutes retrying until something random works.

I love the game's dialog and such so far, but the game part is absolutely terrible. I have gotten stuck on almost every single cross examination, or at the very least had to scratch my head at why one piece of evidence is accepted when another isnt.

Good example is the third case's final cross examination where you have to prove that the witness was the one that wrote both the letter and the order. Logically, you should have to present the order form, since she ALREADY said she wrote the letter. But no, if you do that you get a penalty. You have to present the letter instead.

The part I'm stuck at is the cross examination of Youmu in the extra case. At this point in the game, you have 16 pieces of evidence, and something like 5 dialog options to present evidence at. That is a LOT of possibilities.

And not even a single one makes any sense at all for what you're supposed to show her. I gave up after an hour spent either trying as many options as I could and reloading, or trying to sit down and analyze what the fuck they wanted me to do.

I might come back to it later, but right now I'm stuck to the point that I'm wondering if the game somehow let me progress to this point without enough evidence, because I have no fucking clue what I'm supposed to show her.

And yes, I know Youmu is afraid of ghosts. Its pretty obvious what probably scared her. The plot is obvious, just not how to get it to progress that direction.

FUCKDAMMIT
I've made it all the way to the end of the game without taking any hints from this thread, and now that I'm at the final cross-examination, I'm utterly baffled.
There're so many things wrong with Kogasa's damn story that I can't figure out which wrong is the RIGHT wrong. Not only that, but by that's the longest cross-examination section in the game, and your evidence bag or whatever is the fullest in the game, so trying everything will take forever.

Not only that, but when you present the irrelevant but correct evidence, Aya brings up the "didn't have a vase" evidence anyway.
What a jerk.

Well, of course I would press every statement, the game would have been impossible up to this point without doing that. But unfortunately pressing Youmu does not open up any more testimony. It expects you to present evidence. I have tried approximately half of my evidence on every single choice, including the ghost story.

This is cross exam 1 of day 2 by the way, just in case you're thinking of a later cross examination of Youmu

Also: REALLY captcha? REALLY? Kanji? Fuck you to hell.

God DAMMIT. I hate this game, and I feel like an idiot. It was Tenshi's footprints. She didn't "immediately" take flight. Come on game, don't throw us the red herring of having Youmu's other statements be suspicious and not let us pursue them. That just plain isn't fair.

Besides, Aya pointed out several problems (such as her being scared), but didn't point out the final statement. Bullshit.

>> No.7820273

That annoyed me too, since she shows the burnt cloth anyway, so obviously it WAS something you could present. The AA games love doing that kind of shit to you.

Actually, its about on par with an actual AA game, with perhaps just a bit of extra frustration. If you've played AA, you're used to the game being absolutely ridiculous in what you have to present.

That's the problem with the AA series as a whole, is that you can't think of things in logical terms. You can't go "Hey, this piece of evidence completely disproves not only their statement, but the entire case". If you see a piece of evidence that good, it means you aren't far enough to use it yet.

Instead you have to look for something that disproves one exact piece of testimony, but doesn't break apart the whole case.

>> No.7820323

I'm stuck on the third case's final cross-examination. I can't make any headway with the witness at all...I'm thinking I should show that she wrote both the second order form and Tewi's letter, but I can't figure out where or how.

>> No.7820335

>>7820323

Show the letter to her. This part tripped me up too, since I tried to show her the order form which got me a penalty even though it also proves the same thing (FUCK YOU JUDGE). this is very frustrating since its implied we already showed the letter to her by even bringing it up at all.

Once you show the letter, it will give you an opportunity to point out the perpetrator, who should be somewhat obvious.

>> No.7820343

>>7820335
That was my first idea after she said she wrote the letter, but I've thrown the letter at every part of her testimony with no success.

Are you sure you're at the final part of the cross examination? As I recall there was a part I needed to do to get to showing her the letter. I think perhaps it had something to do with the photograph of Tewi, but I'm not sure. Everything in this game tends to blend to together, which is why I think everyone has a hard time helping people with it.

What, you expected more than 4 cases? Phoenix wright is EXACTLY like that as well, it doesn't have more than 4 or 5 cases. Don't worry though, there are 2 more games that haven't been translated yet.

I hate you so much Kogasa. So god damn much. I can't figure out what to contradict in the part where she says touched the bottle when nitori was working on the alarm clock. Obviously this is a flagrant lie, but nothing I have seems to prove it.

>a guide
way to ruin the fun of the game

>> No.7820552

>>7820506

I have gotten though 90% of the game without a guide, and I have been having a fun time. Except, for you know, the parts where the writers didn't consider alternate points of view. I've enjoyed the story, but most the time the things they expect you to present make no sense even after you finally guess the correct one.

Examples, having to present the safe to Kogasa? Yeah, there was no proof Kogasa broke the wire. It makes ZERO sense to present that as evidence even if you did link her to the wire. Quite simply there wasn't a reason to present the safe.

What sounds more fun to you?

A) Spending an over an hour meticulously going through 75 possible combinations of evidence to find the one they want because the game neglected to mention something or

B) Play the game normally, and if it got to the point where you would have to start just trying every clue, switch to the guide.

Yeah, that's a no brainer.

Besides, it turns out I only really needed a guide for that one part (I would have randomly guessed anyway, but why get frustrated?). Everything past that part was uncharacteristically obvious.
