What ever happened to this game?

I just remembered it, but I don't think it was ever released.

http://screwattack.com/videos/Vampirish-Night-Demo-movie

>> No.7784937

The game maker used some songs taken from Newgrounds without prior permission and the composer asked if somebody could find the game maker's contact information. The composer's retarded fanbase then sent the game maker a whole lot of hate mail, after which the game maker took his ball and went home.

Project is dead.

>> No.7784939

Newgrounds insulted him so like the proud Japanese man he is he killed himself in shame.

Makers Honor was insulted so he had to return to the mountain temple for purification.

Really disappointing. This could have been a great game. I wish he'd have just changed the music.

>> No.7784962

If that's all it took to make him quit, then it's unlikely he was ever going to finish it in the first place.

I can only think of this being wrong on so many levels. Sure, I'd be pissed off if some of my songs got stolen, but I'd be more stoked if I knew they were being put to good use on a game.

And did the Japanese guy seriously committed sepukku figuratively speaking, of course because of a bunch of hate-mail from newgrounds? Jesus christ.

>> No.7784976

>>7784966
I would understand why he abandoned the project. Being spammed by 13 year olds would be quite frustrating, and the fact that they are speaking in another language, all against one could easily make someone nervous. Sad to see how it ended. It's not like he intentionally stole the music for the sole purpose of harming the creator or anything like that.

>> No.7784984

>>7784962
Hard work and honor are two separate things. The situation seems that he felt he committed a crime of great dishonor and removed all traces of his work that he could and disappeared.

This is a very sad case that haunts me to this day and I really hope the creator is still OK.

>>7784966
Don't underestimate how sensitive many people are. Even some on /jp/ are too shy to post and fear insults. Not everyone "gets used to it", for some it just gets worse and that's how their hikkikomori tendencies propagate.

>> No.7784994

>>7784976
I dunno, I imagine that being spammed by a bunch of Japanese mail would make me want to click my block address button and forget about it. But I guess some people just have to care now, don't they?

>>7784984
Sensitivity is just a matter of how innocent you are. And sincerely, I only see two exits for innocent people who get thrown into the internet. Either they get bullied, adapt and learn to deal with it, which is just bound to happen, really, or stick a needle in their routers, because clearly, expecting to only be treated nice and kind here is pretty much common sense not to be accurate.

>> No.7785005

People here in /jp/ have no idea how strong JAPANESE SHAME can be. Either they don't care, or they bow in front of everybody, apologize, and atone for whatever they did. It's really strange.

Those aren't all the things that happen though. Many people just retreat inside but still keep trying to contribute, maybe drawing pictures or translating doujins, ect. Or just read threads with great interest but too shy to post or out of fear of being insulted. Many hikkikomori are like this! People certainly don't all adapt or leave, or there would be a lot less people with agoraphobia!

I for one always tried to encourage kindness and have never insulted anyone here. Even if it's a few, even if it's just one, it makes me feel happy to think someone feels more capable of expressing themselves and are a tad happier. This is a place to share niche hobbies after all. Why should friendship and security have to remain an all-too-distant dream?

Just keep in mind; the world isn't a candy-coated place. That includes the internet. If you think there's some sort of quasi-utopia out there that can be built, one fool at a time with happy and sentimentalist thoughts, give up. That didn't, doesn't, and will never exist.

But that's just putting words in your mouth now, isn't it? Good night~

Shit, if he needed some original music I've been composing for many years.

I've spent many days actually thinking about which of my songs would be suitable theme songs for Touhous actually, and for a while daydreamed daily of making some Touhou game to use my music in. Ideally it would have been some kind of Source SDK 3D-Touhou mod, but I never even started because I knew my ambitions are way too high for one guy to do for fun.

I need to be more on the ball with these things I guess. If /jp/ ever made a cool Touhou game I guess I could contribute some of my music (got plenty of it actually, >80 tracks), but, that'll probably never happen so whatever.

Have you released them? You can always work on free releases/albums, alone or with other people, like split releases. There are a LOT of internet labels. Most doujin composers got known like this.

>> No.7785985

>>7785453

I've actually been approached by some of those online labels before, but I've never officially released anything.

It's just a hobby to me; I'm too lazy to leave the comfort zone unless it was something minor like being used in a doujin game.

There's also a lot of other more obscure reasons, such as my insecurity thinking "I can't release anything until I'm done updating all my old stuff" because I've gotten new ideas/insights over the years. Not to mention it's not unusual for a composer to turtle until he thinks he's good enough to really make an impact; for example people like ZUN and RDJ were making music for well over a decade before they released anything.

His music used was uploaded and made available for FREE DOWNLOAD by himself. He saw them used in a game, just minorly uncredited, and he rallies up a newgrounds army of 13 year olds to "warn" the community of a thief. The creator got spammed, flamed, etc. In turn, this makes it seem like the maker of the music was most likely jealous to see someone being successful. Any mature person would have dealt with it simply in a private manner. The rallying up an army to spam him is what bothered me the most. The game creator did not "steal" the music with any malicious intent.

>> No.7787463

He did do something wrong, who the fuck is so irresponsible as to call an angry internet mob on some japanese person, with the language/cultural barrier, and forces them to give everything up.

The maker of the music didn't sic his fanbase on the game creator, he just said on the Newgrounds forums that the guy had used his music without crediting him and was wondering if anyone could help him contact him. Actually, he did. He sparked a thread going "suspect theft, what do?", and about fifteen faggots/who knows how many lurkers decided to amp up the case as theft instead of looking for fifteen seconds at what was going on. A carpet bombing of the doujinmaker's youtube and email account later, the fellow backed out of making the game at all. One futile hero among the sea of faggots on the newsgrounds side tried to act as both mediator and translator between the two creative sources, but to no avail. Newsground fag gave his permission retroactively, but doujin maker trashed the project because he thought he was guilty of SHAMEFUR DISPRAY.

Halfway into that fuckup (just a little under the hours after the guy trashed the shooter project), /jp/ got a hold of the news. A few /jp/ers mosied to newgrounds and let them know what massive cuntrags they were (which they staunchly denied like the 13 year old cuntrags always do), while the remainder of us actually rallied one or two campaigns to try to smooth the matter over. It didn't work.

The sad part is this could have been avoided completely if the faggot knew how to read. The credits page had his name it in. In English, not moonrunes. So it was a blowup over absolutely nothing.

>In the end, all im looking for is credit. I don't need the money (although for courtesy's sake that would be nice). If he had asked me in the first place I would have been more than happy to let him use the songs. All I ask is when a song comes up on a stage or a menu, there should be a little text that appears that says the title and my name. I'd be pretty content with that.

All I'm doing is explain WHY he was pissed. According to Mr. >>7787402 here, if you make something available for others to use, and they can't even bring it up to credit you, you shouldn't have a right to complain. This pisses me off personally especially because I do the same, and seeing people arrogantly go "Oh, he wants credit? Haha, I'm not even going to be assed to do only that." makes me angry.

I'm sorry I couldn't convince him to keep going, guys. We had a few people trying to act as relays, but the guy was just too insistent on scrapping the game.

In any case, >>7787876 is right, but I don't believe that the primary intention was to harass the creator or make a big deal out of it, just to contact him and sort things out. So, I also believe >>7787488 is right as well. He was credited at the end of the game, but the guy was never contacted about it and was quick to assume that it was "stolen", so the thread was made. It wasn't either of their faults, it's everyone in-between who harassed him and created the ugly situation.

I'd also like to mention that you don't have to be extremely shy to be broken over this kind of harassment. If everyone spoke the same language and the creator was familiar with Newgrounds, this likely would have never happened. However, the poor guy was being assaulted from all fronts from people he couldn't understand without machine translations, claiming he stole work and insulting him relentlessly. He legitimately thought he had done something very wrong. The language barrier is a very powerful thing.

>> No.7788002

He didn't "rally" them. He was asking for advice on how to contact and approach him when fifty people exclaimed he should sue and started harassing him. He didn't ask for them to do so and I don't think he intended for it to get out of control. Basically his main fault was getting Newgrounds involved and overusing the word "steal".

I'm just finding out about this now, truly heartbreaking.
I regularly vote submissions on newgrounds, blaming the majority which is crap, my user rank is solely for this dedication, i avoid speaking or communicating to the NG community, but try to support authors who make the best on newgrounds. Truly, I REALLY REALLY want to try this Touhou fan creation.

Is there any remnants of info to communicate to the author? I suspect he revoked using his old email. I just want to tell him (with some translation) about the childish nature of the newgrounds fanbase AND its base to our western dickery (as in how we pass on these kind of situations in our non-SHAMFUL DISPLAY system), and clearly explain the music license for newground music submissions, so that he would feel better.
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

All the author needed is a Waiver from the music artist, which appears the artist wanted to give, if not for mishandling the situation by ACTUALLY asking the worst place for help, talking to the children on the NG's forums. The artist should have limited information about his translator request, and solely looked for a translator in private. Seriously this situation was more delicate then the music artist realized.

Anyway, i need a translator and some info so i can try and email this fallen author.

Pffff....I find it amusing how the babies at Newgrounds can't even recognize how awesome KoG games are.
Just look at this review for one of KoG recent games

>it needs:

>a healthbar for the boss
This kid is so stupid he didn't even played the game untill the Story mode and Extra stage , were there IS a healthbar for the boss
>upgrades like a temporary shield, weapon upgrades...
>Temporary shield
ROFL, too much danmaku for you kid??
>Weapon upgrades
There are weapon upgrades n00b
>a mute button and a pause button
Turn of your speakers - Problem Solved -
>a quality button because your game lags.

>4.0 / 10.0

reviewing it, they don't deserve your games KoG
