It's like ZUN didn't want to go all out with the music on this one. That doesn't really make it bad, just more subtle. Who knows, maybe the next soundtrack will be able to compensate.

Funny, my two favorite ones are Ghost Lead and Old Yanshuen, undoubtedly the most energetic themes out of the bunch.

But I guess I'm the only one here who likes Old Yanshuen.

I love Old Yanshuen, I don't know why but it sounds like ZUN really had fun with that theme. That and near the end I managed to synchronize Youmu's bomb with part of it and it's stuck in my head. Youkai Back Shrine Road is strangely addictive too, it's not exactly energetic but I find myself listening to it for hours.

Some of the tracks didn't really appeal to me but it was still enjoyable overall.

I didn't like stage 6 at all at first because it didn't feel like touhou any more, but it has really been growing on me lately.

I enjoyed it quite a bit; surely there were some unmemorable tracks and most of them didn't sound like anything he's made before, but some great things like Seiga's theme still came out. The trance remixes of pretty much all of them are also good.

It seemed a bit weak at first for me, but after some time it started to grow on me. The fact that it also has one of the best trance mode mixes also helped a lot (even though it's no stage 3).
In fact, I've been growing more fond of Futo's theme as well.

I liked Miko's theme, if only because it synchronizes with the fight if you do it at full power with no deaths or bombs.

Other than that, TD's horrible scoring mechanics outside of Extra force me to avoid playing it.

Stage 4, the Extra stage and Mamizou's theme were the best tracks. While I'm on it Mamizou's the best thing about TD period, as far as my opinion goes. I think I already like her more than the whole UFO cast.

Oh and Yoshika's theme, that one was a lot more dramatic e.g typical ZUN.

Stage 4 and 6 kinda reminded me of the PC-98 style music. I kinda liked that he managed to keep the feeling close to that level of nostalgia, but I wasn't really expecting this.

I liked them all, really. Desire Drive or A Small Desire's Starry Sky are probably the best, but I still get fired up when Old Yuanshen accompanies Seiga's danmaku. ZUN took the OST into a different, subtler direction than usual, and I'd say it came out well.

Mamizou's theme's good. As in really good, as in I started TD and went to music room and looped it for a half hour+ and enjoyed it the whole time.

I did this exact same thing for at least an hour the first day TD was out, and thought that I'd probably been a dumbass and burned myself out on it.. but no, it's a high-tier ZUN track alright, in that I magically never get tired of it.

Listening to 10 people at once and a shiny stage with mediocre music is nothing compared to them.

If you're going to say the divine spirits are all there is to the plot, then you should compare it with finding out what's up with those geysers that came out of nowhere or HEY, THERE'S A SHIP IN THE SKY! LET'S RAID IT!
I don't have anything to complain about the plot this time, it's about on par with everything else ZUN has made before.

I think it's kind of the oppposite in UFO in quite a few ways. It's definitely more consistent, but like I've said before not too many themes stand out, opposed to UFO where either a theme is either amazing or weak with no in between. That's just what I think about it though.

It just doesn't click with me. Maybe once I reach the UFO extra my opinion will change, but for now I really can't get into it. There's something off about it. That's pretty much how I feel about Hartmann's Youkai Girl as well, for some reason I really can't get into that theme either.
