Hello /jp/

Going to japan/tokyo for three weeks next year and would like to learn some Japanese. What are the best books/online resources for self-teaching?

just because you failed to learn it in whatever time you've wasted time on it, it doesnt mean someone else couldn't learn a lot in a year.

download wakan or buy "basic kanji book vol.1"
practice 10 kanji a day and you'll surely know all the basic kanji after a year. You also need to learn a lot of words while you're at it, but before this step you should go to guidetojapanese.org or any other similar site for the basic grammar, hiragana and katakana.

It all breaks down to how much effort / time you're willing to put on it.

Check out the Rosetta Stone's course for Speaking

http://yosida.com and realkana.com are where I'm learning Hiragana and Katakana.

and hf in a year you can learn a lot, if you're not a fag and really concentrate on it.
