But rape games aren't misogynistic. Rapelay's portrayal of rape, though unrealistic obviously (they don't start suddenly enjoying it, but it's for erotica, so we'll forgive that), is actually way less misogynistic than the western/Christian reactions to rape. The victims are portrayed as poor victims who did nothing to deserve it, while a lot of the time Christians go on about how the woman/girl must have been sinful or earned it in some way, how the rapist must be forgiven etc., while most people playing Rapelay would agree that what is happening is immoral and couldn't be excused if it happened in real life. The players don't think the protagonist is a good person, or that the victims are bad people, unlike many Christians.

Depiction of violence against women isn't woman-hating. I don't get why people think this. Saying that such violence is justified is, just showing it isn't, and actually portraying rape as something horrible that can happen to perfectly innocent people, like it is shown in Rapelay, may actually help to correct some people's ideas of rape where they think it isn't so bad.

Besides, many people get off to fictional depictions of nonconsensual situations, a lot of these being normal and healthy people who would never dream of committing such violent crimes, and many women and/or feminists. To enjoy these scenarios doesn't mean you're a potential rapist or that you advocate rape. A lot of people enjoy things in their imagination that they'd never want to do or have happen to them in real life. Besides, a lot of the works depicting rape are nowhere realism, and differ from what rape is in real life in critical ways that show the audience isn't really going for simulation of real rape, only an imaginary one.

To strive to ban this kind of stuff is not feminist or just towards women, it's a sign of the Christian puritan approach that is the plague of modern-day western countries. It's misogynists perpetuating misogynism.

Are you talking about the original tale or the movies? I wouldn't rap all of or the majority of the Japanese into the rape or harem though. The author of the original Shigurui novels (Not the Manga) was quoted in the end of the manga saying that the Japanese officials, feudal and imperial, have always suppressed the people and that the history is written by their perspectives also the peasants resisted. This makes me believe that the ruling class were the ones of perverse behavior and wrote that so were the rest of the people. This perverse behavior of sexuality was also seen in French nobility in the Eighteenth/Seventeenth century.
