Sanae is by far the best touhou. She is sort of the Hinata of Touhou.

I think that Sanae is unique in the way that she offers the strongest cultural connection to the outside world. Hence her ability to notice fun things like mechas in Soku, Aliens in UFO, and historical currency in TD.

She's also a good girl.

As a boss in MoF, she was pretty good. Nice distinctive star patterns, rocking theme music.

After that, I think she's overexposed and just takes space that should go to better, more interesting characters like Aya, Sakuya, Youmu, Reisen, etc. We already have a playable miko. We don't need another.

The best part about Sanae, I'm afraid, will be the slut meme.

Definitely one of the hottest Touhous.

Out of just Moriya Shrine though, I like Suwako more than Sanae (and Sanae more than Kanako).

While the prostitution thing works for Reimu too, she always has a certain aura of dignity about her due to her being the main character. As a newcomer, Sanae seems like she would be much more desperate for donations/faith/DICKS.

I've always wondered what her backstory was like for how she wound up in Gensokyo.

As a boss in MoF, she was alright. I don't particularly like MoF, though.

As a midboss in SA, she had good, fun, fair spells. It's a shame that safespotting her third one is essential for scoring. It's fun to dodge normally.

SanaeB is the best shot type in UFO.

Sanae is the worst shot type in TD.

Actually, Sanae's a priestess.

It's just since apparently no one else at Moriya Shrine would clean it otherwise, she also acts as the resident miko.

I guess it's not known whether or not she was aware of her divine ancestry before or after she got ported.

Kanako was starting to lose faith, so she decided to go to the loony bin known as Gensokyo because people still believed in gods there, Sanae was her shrine maiden so she went along with her, that's it.

Since she's an outsider, her words are mostly different than most characters at the same time that she (sometimes) tries to be as miko-ish as possible. Mix that with a slight naivety and blind devotion to her gods and you have Sanae.

Disliked her during the MoF/SWR years and thought she was borderline Sue-ish but as the series and her appearances went on she developed nicely.
