Medicine; former doll abandonned in a field of poisonous flowers which in Touhou is enough to justify becoming a Youkai. Now she pretty much hangs around her poisonous flowers with a doll that looks just like her, Medicine herself uses the abundant poison herself in her acts and is completely covered in it to the point touching her is dangerous. She's inexperienced with the world around her so she doesn't understand the strength difference between her and others so she'll always go full out. Pretty crazy to boot.

Alice on the other hand is a Youkai that specialises in controlling dolls and concentrates her research towards creating a independent doll to the point of obsession. She's rather arrogant so she doesn't often go full out when fighting others prefer to fight at what she thinks is the other persons level. She's not a dangerous youkai to most people, she'll even let you stay at her house if you are caught in the forest late at night and don't want to travel back in the dark... but most people don't because her house is fucking creepy. Oh yeah, and her dolls aren't independent in the slightest, so imagine for a moment all the times her dolls carefully tend her wounds and show her affection and realise it's just Alice's will projecting herself onto them.

I prefer creepy Alice over desperate tsundere Alice. While they aren't mutually excusive, the only reason Alice is alone is because she chooses to be. She doesn't really care for most people and only recently took interest in Reimu and Marisa because of their strength and character. Very independent and focused otherwise.
