Just have a quick question for you crazy cats.

It seems in all of my JAPANESE ANIMES that these school kids need to clean the classrooms, hallways, and roof at the end of the day. Can someone please tell me why they make the children do this instead of hiring janitors? Do they even have janitors at schools?

Help me out, /jp/! Pic related.

Sounds like a honor system. There's probably janitors, but kids are usually doing all the work for the elders.

It's just my guess

They do it because Sakura is a slut.

First of all, while funny, that picture was an accident.

Why would /a/ have the answer? They know about anime and obviously I see it in the animes, I wanna know if they do it in real life.

>> No.7755110

japanese teenagers are generally forced into all sorts of afterschool club activities, so someone figured they might as well be forced to clean the classrooms since they won't have any free time left anyway

Builds character, teaches discipline and responsibility, saves money, and makes the children more aware of their trash.

>> No.7755107

It builds character (as in "do your own crap instead of relying on others and taking it for granted.") and helps establish social ties. Most importantly that's how it's been and no one sees a reason to change it.

It's not just limited to Japan, though.

Possibly? I mean, I don't really know. Japanese culture might demand they do all the work because they're douches.

Ever been to Tokyo? No trash cans, people mostly being responsible of their environment = 0 TRASH

Have you been to NY...? Oh god..

then why not ask them? what makes you think a board that hates anime would speak about it

So they do that in public schools?
>>7755107
Sounds like Persona. What other country does that though?
>>7755110
Aren't people who have the activities exempt from cleaning?

>> No.7755116

They do it in Denmark too, but only your own classroom.

But I'm trying to find the link between anime and actual Japan.

>>7755112
Never been to Tokyo so I can't validate your claims.

However, I live in NYC and I just love it when the summer sun hits piss alley.

A sizeable portion of the Middle East and Africa. China also.

>> No.7755132

They make us do it in American classrooms sometimes as we have tons of garbage and shit on the floors, and loading all of the work on janitors would make them demand raises. It's not out of place to see random girls washing the blackboard.

Japanese classrooms just don't get the rooms as dirty as we do, so all that's left is the small things that take under 5 minutes if the entire class helps.
