Ikuko made her cat Bern a character in Higurashi. “I made my cat my miko”. To become her miko = To become a character (prototype of charcter) for her book. Ange in 6th chapter also became Auau’s miko. And it’s absolutely clear what the whole story about Ange’s investigation and trip to Rokkenojima is written by Ikuko/Auaurora in one of her detective novel. Probably Higurashi novel was abandoned by Ikuko until Toya’s correction of her works. What is why Bern is so evil. Zannen da ga, Ryuu is too big troll to confirm such things clearly.
