Porting Clannad to PSP
download these:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2W1GX9ZD
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BNXOTPOW
You also must have the original 2004 unvoiced version of Clannad.

1. First extract the above downloads and make sure you have Clannad installed.
2. Copy all folders and files from the PC Clannad's folder to the extracted xclannad folder except for the BGM folder. reallive.exe and the game folders should be in the same directory as the eboot. If you have installed the voice patch, you can ignore the KOE folder as the voices are not supported.
3. Use the nwa converter to convert the music in the BGM folder to wav files.
4. Copy the converted BGM folder into the xclannad folder with the rest of it.
(optional) The interpreter also supports ogg files so you can convert the music again if you want.
5. Copy a Japanese truetype font into the folder renamed default.ttf. (If you've
downloaded any ports before, you already have this. If not, try downloading this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5U25M5DJ))
6. Copy the xclannad folder to the GAME folder in your memory stick and start playing.

Controls
X/O - left click
triangle - right click (menu)
square - ctrl (skip text)
start - return to previous choice
L - save screen
R - load screen
double clicking L or R autosaves/autoloads from slot 1.

ONScripter support for Android is continuing to improve, and is probably better than the iOS version at this point. The 480×800 reoslution isn't too bad either.

Furthermore, Steve Jobs said no porn is allowed on the Apple app store, therefore even a visual novel like Tsukihime with its few sex scenes would be prohibited from being sold. Therefore, should developers of PC visual novels decide to port their games to mobile phones, they would choose the Android market. You folks with iOS are forced to jailbreak and will be stuck with unofficial fan-made ports like ONScripter. The only exceptions are family-friendly VN's like Higurashi When They Cry which you can get from the app store.

I always thought that mobile devices would be ideal for visual novels. I mean when you hear the word "novel", you'd assume a book, right? It is associated with mobility. Not everyone has the time to sit at their computer screen to read all the routes in Clannad for 90 hours. When you're on the bus, subway, or airplane, it's far more convenient reading a VN on an ipad/iphone/android/symbian than lugging around a laptop. I'm surprised there isn't a focus by the Japanese game companies to transition their VN's to mobile devices.

First of all that's a retarded argument because you don't have to have every fucking visual novel on your mobile device at one time. If you finish a visual novel, you could just delete it. Should you decide to read it again, you could redownload it from where ever you bought it from, or get it from a hard drive if you backed it up.

Narcissu: 127 MB
One ~To the Radiant Season~: 488 MB

Sex-romps with little to no substance like Wanko to Kurasou are in a way holding back the medium. On the other hand, an eroge like Kana ~Imouto~ is fine.

That's just plain retarded since VNs take up 1GB at MOST, often less.

The real problem is getting through the mobile device stores, which have strict rules on what can and can't be in a game (ie. nudity, suggestive themes, gore, etc.).

Look at most of the VN ports to idevices; they're all stripped of sex scenes and are often simplified.

Though I admit it would be nice to have VNs on a tablet. I would even buy one if we had an easy way to run them. But, at the moment, netbooks > tablets, if you want mobility and loads of eroge.

The majority of them are nowhere near 2Gigs.

The extent to the decreasing of quality is very minimal at this point. Most visual novels in existence are 640x480 or smaller. Newer ones are 800x600. With the latest generation of iPhone and iPod Touch having resolutions of 960x640, and Android phones with 800x480, there wouldn't be any issue in terms of image quality. Not to mention tablet/slate computers would exceed the resolution requirements. Not only that, but the touch controls would also be a benefit.
