I just want to bring this into everyone's attention: One board, at any given time, can hold 150 threads. There are (currently) 117 characters and 13 games, totaling 130 threads IF there is one thread for EVERY character AND one for each game. In my opinion, an entire board for Touhou just seems illogical.

You're relating the facts in the wrong way.

You're saying that a split should be made because /jp/'s shit threads often have a picture of a Touhou on the OP or is Touhou-related in some way. Thus, you're adding these threads to the overall Touhou discussion threads, which is a wrong thing to do. Most of the shitposting actually has a PIG.jpg or Madoka or something from /b/ as OP picture, actually.

Mind you, there are actually plenty of Touhou discussion threads around which I've participated in mostly around these days, just so happens that they're not on the front page for now and most of the ones which were alive a few days ago are graved now.

The problem is in drawing the line on what is considered otaku culture. Or what exact parameters make a thread about a video game okay in here.
There is always going to be an overlap with the other boards, and we have a rabid userbase that will always find fault with any topic being allowed or not. Personally, I'm alright with the board itself trying to determine what it wants to discuss, but how can you measure that accurately when spam from a vocal minority appears to be the will of everyone when the average /jp/ anonymous is completely neutral about the topic.

I really wish we had more rules than that. But I doubt things can change at this point in time.


Anyway, splits have never worked so far. As time goes on what makes a particular board is its userbase, not the topics. You try to segment that to improve things and you end up with a fragmented community that will quickly drift away from each other. /vp/ was the greatest mistake in this imageboard, so far.
