She was planning to profit from Utsuho using her powers in order to bring the nuclear age to Gensokyo, which backfired at first, then worked for a while until she changed her mind and instead opted for cold fusion with the help of Reimu.

She may be manipulative, but she doesn't have any evil intents, other than MoF.

Utsuho actually wanted to do more than just incinerate everything and everyone, she was planning on using the above ground as a way to build a new hell. Also, I don't see why destroying the world is deemed ''stupid'', plenty of villains have tried it before in every other series, Utsuho wanted to do that plus create her own empire afterwards.

And CoLA showed that Reimu's god doesn't do shit and could be replaced, the only thing that matters is for there to be a god _in_ the Hakurei Shrine (although apparently the current god is the original Hakurei god, due to Kourin saying that replacing the god would also create the need to replace the name of the shrine).

Either way, Kanako was still succesful without the need to use forced religious changes. She was still mischevious afterwards though.
