Ryougi wasn't trained to be an assassin. She was trained to prepare her body to fully rid herself of a personality and obtain emptiness, and the state to accept anything in full. She's really good with a sword, for sure, but she's not an assassin. Her skills with a knife are self-taught, as well, relying mostly on her superb agility to supplement theory and technique.

If it's a knife fight, Nanaya Shiki was trained in nothing but knives. It's an extension of his body. She'd be better off bringing a sword.

Shiki is basically the most talented son of the strongest of the Demon Hunter clans. The only thing "holding" him back are that he stopped training (only the basics) so many years ago as well as Makihisa brainwashing him so that he "thinks" he's a normal human.

Even his anemia isn't something that ever held him back during his fights or when he exerts himself physically. Most of the time, it takes a bit longer after the activity before he starts getting dizzy.

Shiki has fistfights with delinquents because he's also a delinquent.

And with the talent thing, training your entire life sometimes mean diddly shit when you're faced with talent far greater than your own.

That said, on current levels of experience, Ryougi is better than Tohno. If he goes Nanaya due to survival instincts, who knows what would happen.
