I did Hinamizawa in a few hours, but it felt rushed. I also had a higurashi-related location map that I begged off some otaku who were lingering about the Furude shrine.

There's another anon around who's stayed overnight there, he might be able to say more about that. I'd probably recommend it over a daytrip.
