Actually, on the topic of such I just went back and tried it again. Best I've managed is one death during it. I think I'll just stop firing entirely, since the best place to dodge is in the bottom right corner but you'll never be able to do enough damage down there to end it before timeout, and the shots are just distracting. I'll see how it goes.

Sure, memorizing what's going to happen helps a lot, but then you're going to want to memorize as much as possible for any shmup if you want to play it at a reasonably high level. I'd argue their games are fun and intense regardless. At any rate, there's a lot less memory involved compared with, say, IREM games, and a lot of those are pretty sweet too.

Shit, I've run into a problem. SMD-00x's blue-stream attack (picrelated) seems to be undodgeable, I really can't find any way to misdirect or safespot or squeeze in between the gaps reliably.
I think it's possible to take it down in less than four lives, but it'd seriously suck ass if I had to straight-up eat two or three lives there, meaning I'd have to do perfectly on pretty much the entire rest of the game.

Can anyone else check this out and make sure I'm not missing something here?
