How many anime besides Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and Pokémon did anybody here watch as a kid?

(teenfags aren't allowed to answer)

Hell, whose parents would've let them watch any kind of real anime as a kid?
I didn't become aware of the term until 2001.

I got Pokémon Red for my 9th birthday back in 1999 when it was at its apex of popularity.
(kids were bringing cards into the cafeteria and trading them)
None of the kids I knew were aware of the term anime,
nor were any of the adults. We only knew it was from Japan.

Before Pokémon,
there weren't too many things from Japan earlier in the decade
that attained anywhere near that level of popularity.

So, may I submit that anime didn't really enter
the mainstream consciousness until after Pokémon hit?

None. I wasn't interested in it when I was young, sadly.
Not even Cowboy Bebop. I wish I could bitchslap my 10 year old self.

The first anime I saw on TV was Technoman blade(?) I think it was. Amusing now I think about it because I remember it having a lot of blood and they wouldn't be able to screen it in this day and age.

My first real anime was Love Hina, which I got fansubbed off the internet with my 56K modem. Don't remember it too well but back then internet fansubs were starting to become popular; the previous distribution method was VHS where people would send them out with fansubs overlayed.

i've never watched anime in my life

Grew up watching Hokuto no Ken, Daitarn 3, Tiger Mask and Saint Seiya.

The 90s were a great time to be a kid in Italy.

I watched Tenchi and pretty much everything on Toonami.

>> No.7665880

Digimon was the first anime I really enjoyed. Then the various anime on Toonami, then nothing for a few years other than the shitty adult swim anime. Around the time Zatch Bell was on adult swim did I actively search for anime. Galaxy Angel was the first anime I downloaded.

Many animes, Ken, Saint Seiya, Ranma 1/2, Touch, Attacker you, you're under Arrest, High School! Kimengumi, Slayers, Cat's Eyes, City Hunter. And many I only know the translated name.
Then Utena, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Blue Seed, Escaflown, Medabots, Sakura, Magical Doremi, I guess that was the time around pokémon.

So I've been watching anime since long ago and I continue watching new shows.

Before I was 10 I watched Record of Lodoss War, Tenchi, Ranma, Evangelion, and Blue Seed. There were tons of others, but most of them I don't even remember anymore. I remember my mom was into Sonic Soldier Borgman and Kimagure Orange Road, so I saw a bit of those, too. We've still got tons of fansub VHS tapes downstairs.

Shit like yourself should be banned, not OP
nor should any of those who decided to post in this thread.

(I bypassed their ban)

Moot sucks shit, he lets all the decent posters get banned, and lets all the living pieces of shit continue to post here.

This place sucks
especially since "shamwow" is gone.
