I feel like getting into Touhou but I suck ASS at shooting games.

Where should I start, and what are some tips for getting better?

Never got the appeal of this.
Not trying to sound like a prude, but I don't see much of a point of it.

Getting by one level on Lunatic, beats 1cc:ing the entire game on easy, or clearing the whole thing on normal.

Because people like to play games that are at their difficulty level, not tremendously above it. Why the fuck you think lunatic Wriggle must automatically be more fun than normal Yuyuko is beyond me.

The later fights have way more buildup, since you have more to lose if you fail. As a person who can 1cc both normal mode and lunatic's stage one, speak for yourself. Although I do thing that the way EoSD only went up to stage 5 on easy was cool.

PCB is probably a good starting point. Remember to use all your bombs, but save them for when you think you're going to die. I still suck at the games also, but I have managed to 1cc some of the games on Normal.

You don't need to play games to get into Touhou. Just saying.

Believe me quite a significant amount of us probably sucked badly when we started, including me. You'll get better with practice. Play easy mode to get used to the controls, but don't remain in it for more than a few weeks. Jump to normal as soon as you can.

While he doesn't necessarily have to, it is something nice. I myself can't fully appreciate a character until I actually make it to them in the game at some point. If he finds the games aren't fun and that he can live without playing them that's fine, but he should at least try.

Play more and you will suck less. It will first seem completely impossible, as opposed to most games which are designed to make you feel comfortable right off the bat, but eventually your brain will wrap around the game mechanics.

If you don't like it don't force yourself to play the games. The point is to have some fun.
That aside, never play on easy mode. And bomb more.

When the connection was flaky, the Nintendo logo would be all screwy, but it would still look like a garbled Nintendo. You'd only get the solid brick if there was no game in it at all.
