Anyone here own a PSP? I received one (a 3000) as a gift the other day, and I'm trying to figure out what I need to do in order to play Monster Hunter 3 and Im@s on it.

>> No.7653156

>and I'm trying to figure out what I need to do in order to play Monster Hunter 3 and Im@s on it.

Nothing. Just buy the game.

>> No.7653168

it's easy
1) slide the 'open' switch. a small hatch will open.
2) insert the game disc you wish to play.
3) close the hatch.
4) slide the 'power switch
5) ???
6) profit.

Getting a 1000 is the best bet for any CFW.
I haven't checked into CFW for the newer PSPs because it used to just be that temporary ChickHEN shit, and I never cared much for it.

As far as official firmwares go, the further you update, the more stupid shit you have to go through to put CFW on it.

It's a PSP-3000 so you'd be best off not installing the perma-patch (though some people have reported to getting it working on 3000s), so you'd still have to deal with loading the CFW every time you boot up your PSP.

Recent instructions i got on /v/ that worked on my 2000

1. Update to 6.39, either through network update, or downloading it from Sony or Dashhacks and putting the update eboot in a folder called "UPDATE" in /PSP/GAME on the memory stick.
2. Download 639PRO_B8.rar from here: http://code.google.com/p/procfw/downloads/detail?name=639PRO-B8.rar&can=2&q=
3. Extract the rar file, and copy the PROUPDATE and FastRecovery folders to /PSP/GAME on the memory stick
4. Run PROUPDATE from the XMB on the PSP, and press X when prompted, this will install the firmware files to the flash, afterwards you will reboot into PRO-B7 CFW.
5. Put ISOs and CSOs in the ISO folder on the root of the memory stick.
6. When you fully shut down the PSP, it will reboot back into official firmware. Run FastRecovery to get the CFW back up quickly.

Step 6 is for new 2000 and 3000 models where freezing causes it to reboot without CFW. No hassle involved.

oh god wat

6.31 cfw is an old one which is never updated anymore and incompatible with almost everything.

Upgrade to 6.35 and use one of the newer 6.35 PRO CFWs. You don't need to install an ISO loader yourself since it's built into the CFW so that whenever you add an ISO to the ISO folder in the PSP's root directory it shows up on the XMB as long as you're in CFW mode (essentially there's a fast recovery application which is always in the XMB, just load this every time you reboot your PSP to go into CFW mode).

Also allows you to emulate PS1 games, use moreorless every plugin, homebrew etc.

>> No.7667986

>>7667931
You can update from 5.50GEN-prom4 to official 6.39 (OFW), then to CFW 6.39PRO-B8.
The thing is, the PSP probably isn't letting you update because it said it's already up to date, right?
Well, it just so happens that 5.50GEN spoofs the firmware version to 9.90 something so it won't ask to update ever. You have to manually change the txt file that determines the version on the PSP's flash. If you got 5.50GEN that means you can access the flash.
Just put your usb mode from memorystick to flash0, connect the PSP to the PC through usb and access the file VSH/ETC/version.txt, and change the line "release:9.90:" for "release:5.50" save and exit, change the usb mode to normal, update to OFW 6.39.

Easiest one would be with the VSH menu you can activate by Select while in the XMB.

The other way is just going to the advanced setting on the recovery menu.

It's different from other dungeon crawlers. You don't get to choose what skill you can use. The f girls in your party will select a skill or attack and you choose to use one of them for that turn.

The story was alright. I half understand moorunes so, I got the basic gist of what was happening.

You're a Jail Guard in Hell. It's your duty to escort the four girls you start with back to the surface. Each girl has committed a crime and was sent to Hell to atone for them. Along the way you'll pick up the other 3 girls who were wandering around the lower levels.

After beating each boss you'll unlock a new "punishment tool" to use w/ the girls (You'll get a whip, tazer, bottle of water, and a feather). As you "punish" them they'll unlock new skills they can choose in combat. The scenes aren't anything more risque that you'd find in /e/ (In fact they're probably less risque than that. In /e/ you can see tits. You only get panty shots in the game).

She was put under massive pressure to make predictions so she started making things up. Purple (Sako) is the twin sister of Pink (Yuko), She fell in love with Yuko, and stole Yuko's used gym clothes to smell them. Yuko caught her doing this and from then on she made Sako do everything for her. Because Sako loves Yuko she doesn't mind doing everything for her. Orange (Kisaragi) came from a middle class family who sacrificed what they had to put her into a good school. Unfortunately the pressure to fit in drove her to start going on paid dates in order to earn money to buy the name brand goods that all the other students had (I think she makes it a point to mention that there was no sex involved on these "dates"). Green (Shin) was a genius. Being bored at school she turned to the Internet and Video Games. She became a "channer" (Seriously, her Sin Version even spouts 2chan memes at her and "wwww" all over the place.) and eventually a hikkikomori. She locked herself in her bedroom and didn't come out. Red (Ran) was stalked by a boy who took voyeuristic photos of her. When she discovered the pictures of her changing into her school swimsuit, she beat the shit out of him and the she proceeded to beat the crap out of any boy that got close to her. Finally dark blue (Tomoe) learned early on that because of her looks she could get men to do what ever she wanted them to do. Eventually, her meddling started to affect even those she was close to. Her cousin was going to get married, but she broke it up by messing with her fiancee's feelings.

Nearing the surface you'll come upon the Schoolhouse Level where you'll learn what crime each girl committed. Each girl confronts a shadow version of their crimes. I'll just refer to the color that they're in in >>7678211. Blue (Alice) has clairvoyant powers. When the media caught wind of this a cult formed around her.
