>After our first experiment with hard copies via the Da Capo Limited Edition, we were able to come in contact with and get to know many other vendors and distributors. We spoke with many of them, and we have decided that the best option which would help us reach the widest possible audience in North America, would be to work with J-list for the distribution of our hard-copies. We both agreed this deal would be in our mutual interests, and hope that hard copies continue to prove a success so we can continue to bring you even more in the future.

>Now we have even more good news: we've signed an exclusive distribution agreement with MangaGamer to bring their awesome English-translated game titles to you!

I'm happy about the deal, it means hard copies for MG releases and a cross pollination for JAST and their customers. All of which will feed the burgeoning market.

is it true that mangagamers is trying to get kiminozo from age? I'd rather have altered fable but I guess it makes more sense to start at the beginning.

>> No.7641529

>>7641425
You'd be lucky to see any of the Muvluv games localized any time soon, especially considering Kouki and the other age devs don't seem to hate money as much as Bamboo and the Overdrive devs do.
If we see any version of KimiNozo at all, it'll probably be the 2001 or DVD spec versions, not say, LE. Which is a damn shame, as LE adds a ton to the game, as well as being Wide Screen and having higher resolution resources and such.
And regarding Muvluv, I really don't see it happening because of several reasons. The first being pride. Muvluv/Alternative have essentially become age's flagship currently, and I don't exactly see them letting that go be localized in a market as small as this especially when a free patch is widely available. Second would be the engine. Unlimited and Alternative pretty much would not work at all without rUGP, and considering MG's policy of porting games to their own engine, I wouldn't even want to buy an MG release of those games if they were on rUGP. And if they were to release and still keep rUGP, they'd still need to tweak it a bit to support machines that don't have their Locale set to Japanese. How much work that would be, I have no idea. And the third would be cost. If I remember right MGs business structure essentially has the company that made the game cover the localization costs. Sure, age may have a copy of the translation sitting on their laps for free, but they'd still need to have someone TL check it, and pass over editing it again most likely. And both of these need people hired to do them. Then there could also be costs need to license various resources such as the music, voices, and so on, as well as the associated costs with possibly making engine changes and so on.

>> No.7641540

Pretty good for mangagamer, they are final doing something right. Jlist is a hotbed for the "weeaboo" crowd who go to /a/ / /v/ and click their ads on 4chan. I think they will get some good business out of this.

Any game that requires a special engine uses that special engine. See Koihime for example. Another example would have been KnS but the Japanese devs couldn't get it to work properly for English text since it just wasn't designed for it, so they ported it to KiriKiri 2.

There is nothing special about BGI that makes DRM more effective than any other engine. Nothing at all. If you think them porting it to BGI is because of DRM purposes then you are just flat out wrong.

>> No.7642041

I'm also from Europe. I never shopped with them before, but aren't their shipping rates for each service comparable with those of another countries? I mean i always take it easy and choose SAL.
