Like you said, it is too late.

Besides, it will not be the real thing. If I want to be a woman, I want to be a real one, with all the joys and pains it brings. I want to have my own children, not be a horribly mangled man who messed up his system.

Unless that technology exists, I will not go through it.

My arms are long, my hands are huge and blocky and my shoulders are very broad. My hair isn't straight either. My bone structure just isn't fit for it. I'd look horrible as a girl. I think my bottom half looks more acceptable though. I've been told that I have nice legs and thighs. That has very little to do with bone structure though.

hmmm

I wonder if you implant an oocyte with nucleus removed with a nucleus of your DNA minus the y chromosome, would it be fine

the y pretty much just says to everything else: "be male".

Consciousness transfer is still quite a ways down, and with such a different brain from youth would it even be possible? you would have to grow it into one's likeness taking into account every single stimulus encountered in one's lifetime, or maybe down the line we can manipulate neuronal connections and it wouldn't matter. Or maybe brains aren't all that different and it wouldn't matter, and you could have your female clone grow until a reasonable age (do you want to be a cute imouto or wait till adulthood?).

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume consciousness is a pattern of neuronal connections + activity, and that it can be duplicated much like a file. Would you be okay with "suiciding" your current body knowing that your exact same consciousness has been transferred to the new, female body? Or would you just split off into two people, a sort of true dual personality? The male you would be unsatisfied, or maybe relieved at seeing how the female you would turn out after a few years.

I really wish neuroscience would hurry up and really understand the brain. I'd help but I can't be arsed to go to grad school and do research for some uni since I had a shit gpa undergrad.

>overpriced, bought purely out of advertising.
True. OS X isn't bad IMO, plus you can even install Windows if you wanted. Also, I like the design of their notebooks.

>> No.7620397

It's about the same as Windows. Some things you can do better in Windows. Others you can do better in OS X. I have a Macbook Pro. It turns on and off extremely fast, stays in sleep mode for at least a day or two without recharging, and has a long battery life.

>architecture
Mmm... Apples and oranges, kind of.

What was nice about the powerPC is that nobody gave a fuck about it, so there were few security risks. Shit was solid as a rock, too. As time progressed, this became less true, and CISC/x86 just outpaced PowerPC by sheer economic force. But, backing a non-moneymaker isn't a way to run your business, so in my heart, I knew it had to end sometime. Like how Minidiscs just recently went defunct. I backed the hell out of that tech even though I knew years ago that flash media was going to overtake it.

Fair enough. But in that case any cheaper computer with better specs+linux is probably more sensible than a mac.

>> No.7620441 [DELETED]

You can build tons of insanely good pcs,or just buy a alright pc (still better than a mc) or buy a mac and waste a 1000 dollars, for nothing because most people who buy a mac are hipstershits who dont even use it for what its worth.

>> No.7620449

Actually I only spent $1100. The only company that makes equivalent non-Apple PCs is Sony and their computers are more expensive to get the same features. I'm talking about laptops. Also, it's got a thunderbolt port.

That must be why they use it in video game consoles like the obscure Xbox 360.

>> No.7620456

>who dont even use it for what its worth
Nice assumption. Granted, I'll give you that they're ridiculously overpriced (and God save you if you're a sucker who can't do their own upgrading), needlessly difficult to upgrade yourself (until the Intel macbooks came out, anyway), and a lot of nimrods who would better be served by a $200 piece of crap net-surfer bought them, but some of us actually know what we're doing.
I bought one back in the day because I was lazy, and shit really did 'just work'. I wasn't a PC gamer-- it was a media machine by and large, and it was my portable artists station when I still cared to do art. If you're capable of using it to its fullest, they're as solid as anything.

Yes, yes, I'm familiar. I remember when the 360 beta boxes were just modded G5 towers. But consoles and PCs are apples and oranges themselves.

I use both. I like OS X a lot more for constant tasks like web browsing and general OS use etc. Too bad they keep making their desktop OS more like iOS so if that continues I'll have to back away ~

That explains everything. That sucks, sounds like it had a real advantage over x86.

>>7620432
Agreed. Their main selling point is that it doesn't get viruses, but if you know how to use a computer then that's not a problem.
I really like the design of their notebooks, but that alone doesn't justify the price.

Im not talking about the people who use it for what it was made for, i was talking about all the college kids, who i see all the time wasting so much money to only listen to music and surf the net on it to look cool. Macs are a waste of time and money unless you really need it. Pcs you can transform into anything you want, be it for videogames and mostly everything.

Have you ever owned one and used it for at least a couple of months? I had no idea what a modern Mac was like, hardware and software, before I bought one. All I knew was what I remembered of Macintoshes in the 90s, a black and white primitive desktop OS. Some tasks are so much easier on the Mac.
