It'd depend on the game, like something like Odin Sphere, yes I'm going to play it on easy because I don't want to grind for hours and hours making potions and whatnot, I'm mostly playing for the story. Muramasa, I'll play on Shura. SSF4, I'll play on Hardest, etc.- but if I'm just solely in it for the story, and its a very grindy game, fuck grinding. Cheat engine all up in that bitch.

I only play Easy if there's an Xbox achievement associated it with it. Otherwise I play Normal the first time through, then I choose the highest difficulty the second time through. Normal mode in most modern games is too easy as well, but whatever. Most modern games are easy on any difficulty.

To be honest I find the hero's skills be he a magician or a fighter to be kind of mediocre compared to skills the girls can have. The warrior has a weak AOE and a semi-strong single target skill along with a self heal, the resurrect spell and a few other stuffs while the mage has a random damages spell, a boost spell and a semi-strong single target spell that poisons/burns.
I'd probably go for fighter, since the weapons you get are pretty nice already.
Then when you compare, you have spells that does huge damages and are for all targets along with abnormal status effect on all enemies, that's kinda awesome compared to the mediocre skills your character get.
