How much time did it take you to get good at the Touhou?

Started in 2008, I sucked pretty much, I wasn't able to beat Hong Meiling in Easy Mode. Then I finished my first Touhou without continues one way later, Perfect Cherry Blossom. Now I did the same with all Touhou games except the 11 and 12. Never managed to defeat an Extra Boss though.
I don't think I'm bad. I'm average.
