Last night I had great dream - I already was in Gensokyo and I even had access to MMO games, and then when I did finally meet with my favourite Touhou Rinnosuke I had to wake up because it was loud in my house at morning ;_;

Worst dream ever

What makes you think this isn't a dream?

His mother was a fox. Or maybe his father was a dog.

Japanese mythology tends to be like that.

Do wish I had something to back it up with other than fox spirits being overrepresented among mothers of half-youkai children. But except for numbers, that's it.

I have this picture as poster in room.

I believe he is half fox...(that means he is even better!)

It is easy to believe, but it is more rewarding knowing for certain.

I do believe, but I don't know. It does seem ZUN intends for Rinnosuke's parents to remain unknown, or simply doesn't consider it relevant.

Then there is only one way to know it for sure - to be in Gensokyo, but then isn't it objective?

Suspicious.

Couldn't a half-youkai just be a human that only partly managed to transform himself into a supernatural being?

Rinnosuke's mother is Yukari. He uses her inherited powers to pull items into Gensyoko.

Thanks...

I'm horribly terribly bored ... because I don't want to go sleep because I will be sad again if I will have to wake up from next touhou dream (but then touhou dream - closer to Gensokyo) ...

Could anyone recommend some Rinnosuke doujins please? (not 18+)

He was... when he was a bit younger.

Which is probably why this is one of my favourite pictures of Rinnosuke. Or rather, because there is a lot of material in it to get the imagination running - despite the obvious warning signs of randomly added fanart sword and heroine with "improved" anatomy.
First, it's the obvious part of Rinnosuke being put in an uncharacteristic action pose, sword and all. That, and how he seems to be missing his glasses, has a rather stable physique and unusually dark hair. Second, there's the differences in Reimu's outfit and manner (although those things are up to the artist, largely). All in all, it's led me to believe that this may not be Reimu, but a relatively recent ancestor, probably around the time of the sealing of Gensokyo. That in turn would mean the pic shows Rinnosuke still in his relative youth, quite a different person than he is today.
Still, for all the strength he radiates, what I like is that in context it still shows Rinnosuke in decline. While he appears young, and by youkai standards still is very young indeed, he still is very old for a human - perhaps already older than a human lifetime. He is, by all means, an old man trapped in a body he has long since outgrown. Or maybe even an old man who has yet to realise that he is dying or already dead, about to be replaced by something else - something that he may not understand, but which ironically is what part of him has always been.

/end pointlessly complex subjective art interpretation

The shrine maiden depicted in your picture isn't Reimu. That woman is known in the fandom as the Previous Miko/Sendai Miko (先代巫女) and as "The previous generation's Hakurei shrine maiden" (先代博麗の巫女). She was spawned from the fact that Rinnosuke knew the previous Hakurei descendant.

On the 'boorus, she's usually just tagged as "hakurei_miko".
