I don't think I'm a bad person, but there's a lot of things I simply don't care about.
Genocides in Africa? Starving children? I simply don't care. I don't know them, and I never will.
In fact; I'll make an active effort to never get to know them.

I guess I come off as egoistic and arrogant most of the time, but I actually care about the wellbeing of the people around me.
Mostly the ones that I like, so I help them whenever I can if they need something from me - but of course I don't know an awful lot of people, so I'm rarely asked. I can stay neutral to other people.

Literally it just means a normal person, as in, someone who doesn't share our... eccentricities. But it's most commonly used about a specific type of person who thinks that sex and partying are the greatest things in life, and need to lecture everyone who doesn't enjoy it it sufficiently.
