im curious about something /jp/

its about anime, but i figured the fags on /a/ would just be fags like they normally are, so i come here to ask, since its about japanese culture, in general

what is the deal with animes or manga showing high school kids drinking pop and acting drunk?

what i mean is, i must be missing some kind of cultural reference or understanding that cannot be translated.

personally i figured its either has to do with censorship (which i doubt) or has to do with it being socially unacceptable for those not of age to drink to be really drinking, but still yet it reflects how japanese salarymen are very hard drinkers so children are imitating what they see and hear.

or i could be off my rocker completely.

I don't know man shit.
Despite how open Japan is with drinking, it is still not cool for minors to drink,which is why you'll hear them say something like "lol this is just children's beer" after the event.

Some popular shows just don't give a shit though. Like One Piece, for instance.
