I finished 3 but can't get myself to play frontier. Something to do with having 3 lands in prosperity with a grass factory, and having to do runey transfers while it's raining (so runeys aren't in clumps) kinda ruined it for me.

Runeys ruined frontier for me as well.

I thought i could just ignore them, and managed to beat the game with them all dead.

Then i learned that in order to create all the best stuff in the game i needed these exotic hard to grow plants that were impossible to me now. And without them any further dungeoneering was impossible.

Fuck that noise.

Anyways we won't be seeing rune factory 4 in the west for at least a year and a half, by then there might actually be a reason to buy a 3DS.

I always thought the crafting was kind of repetitive. I like the interaction with the entire town as a whole, getting everybody (Even the non-romancable) people to like you. I'm into character development and that stuff.

How is pirating on the 3DS so far?

I know R4 released a version for the 3DS but the R4 for DS was pretty shit, it had support for a while then it relied on other people releasing firmware for them.

I'm only wondering because I don't think I'd buy a 3DS otherwise, region lock means that as an Englishman I have to pay more and wait longer for my games.

That and you won't be able to do an undub unless you have something like an R4.

Acekard 2i works on the latest 3DS firmware, not sure about other flash carts. There's no way of pirating actual 3DS games yet, unfortunately.

But I 100% agree with you. I can stomach the no games, low resolution, high price, etc...

but for the love of god why did they Region Lock it. I mean the DS was the prime example of awesome games not being sold in the EU/US or being sold 3 years later... like Oendan, 7th Dragon, Fire Emblem, From the Abyss, Inuzuma Eleven, Jump Ultimate Stars, Love Plus, Puyo Puyo, Soma Bringer, Super Robot Taisen, Tokimeki and tons more!

I personally don't bother with the HM games. Maybe I should, but I have trouble getting into them. The RF games are much better.

I suggest NOT starting with RF3, because if you do, you'll never want to play 1 or 2 because they play like shit in comparison. Haven't played the Wii games, so I can't give you any advice there.

Rune Factory 3 is the best RF. None of the Harvest Moons since Mineral Town have been great since they stopped adding anything meaningful at all and just changed names/character designs, but Sunshine Islands is the best of the bunch. Still a good game, but just the same fucking thing they've been putting out every year since 2004.

There was no point to anything. No point to farming since there's nothing to spend money on. No point to making friends with the villagers because it doesn't change anything. No point to finding a waifu since she'll just ask you to marry her at the end of year one no matter what. And only four fucking festivals.
The only interesting things are the aging, which as you said, is far too fucking slow, and the crop hybrids, which are pointless because, again, there's nothing to spend money on and no reason to do it except to say that you did.

About the marriage, I never knew that when playing, I got heart events for the girl I liked a proposed to her. So the fact that someone proposes to you anyway, didn't affect my enjoyment. And either way isn't the point in finding a wife to see her events?

As for money not really being necessary, I don't really care because I've never felt I needed money that much in other HM games.

Animal Parade is better in almost every way EXCEPT that it's easier and time moves quite a bit slower. I loved the hectic pace of the early Harvest Moons and the need to rush to get everything done in a limited time. ToT is closer to that than AP.

That'd be cool in AWL if there were more than 8 crops and any of them needed to be unlocked, or if you _COULDd_ make your farm any bigger. Like I said, the only thing to do is make hybrids. That's literally it.
