Did you know that deprecated features are actually useful for performance?

For instance, with nVidia drivers, geometry-only display lists are lightning-fast and STATIC_DRAW VBO don't even come close. Also, with most drivers, the fixed-function pipeline is emulated by shaders optimized specifically for the hardware, which are almost always faster than what you would have written.

Ironically, if people actually used these *deprecated* features, OpenGL would completely ridiculize Direct3D performance-wise!
