I like visual novels that actually read like novels instead of trying to make it feel like you're the lead role.

Case in point, this isn't written in first person, and in fact often switches to other characters' perspectives.

G-Senjou no Maou is written in first person (mostly, sometimes 3rd person) and switches viewpoints frequently - for the most part, you take the role of Kyosuke, though.

I'm not saying first person is a bad thing; I just think it's so passe that every visual novel is first-person from the point of view of the faceless hero, some going out of the way to not even have the protagonist appear in CGs, resulting in sex scenes where the girl's vagina is spread wide open but there's not even a disembodied penis sticking into it.

Which is why I like stuff like >>749526, which gets away from this idea and actually makes it more like a novel. Of course, there are novels written in first person, and really interesting things can be done with first person, such as Ever17.

GnC has just always stuck out to me, though, because it's so odd in that respect.
