throughout Phase 2 you'll get heart points to divide between Saki and Finnel. If you you don't want to miss any CG give all 3 heart points to either Saki or Finnel (3 hearts will lock you to her ending)
divide them like 2:1 or 1:2 to get the 3rd Reyvateil's ending or the other ending)

right after you give out the third heart point you'll have a boss fight with MYU.
If you don't defeat it when the time's up you'll get the bad ending.
If you defeat it on time and later on choose to [Stop the song] you'll go for true ending.
if you don't stop the song you'll go to the normal ending for the heroine with the most heart points.

It's all dependant on your heart points (which is shown on the menu screen). During phase 2 there are 3 choices, picking one girl will give a heart point towards her. If you give one girl all 3 points you will enter phase 3 locked into her route. If you enter with 2 heart points in one girl and 1 in another you won't be locked into any girl and instead you'll have to accept their confession in their cosmosphere which is at level 8, I believe. If you accept nobody then you will get a Cocona ending, just like Ar tonelico 2.

As for the endings..

Bad end - Don't defeat M.Y.U. in time during the 'Battle of Destiny' and stop Saki singing.
Normal ending - Let Saki continue singing. M.Y.U. fight result doesn't matter here, I believe.
True ending - Defeat M.Y.U. in time and stop Saki singing.

Might have fucked something up since I haven't played AT3 since it was released.

Has anyone found a torrent for the AT1 and 2 hymnos concert cds where everything doesn't come in a single .tta file? I know bitching about free stuff is dumb, but those torrents OP posted are pretty inconvinient. It's not so much the weird .tta format that bothers me, it's everything just being one huge file. Also mp3 with a high enough bitrate is the best file format for music, "lossless" formats such as FLAC are a waste of space, the human ear is physically incapable of hearing a difference between FLAC and high bitrate mp3.

Erm, it's been explained underneath the torrent links for months that you can easily extract and convert the files using foobar. The whole point of the .cue sheet that comes with the .tta file is so you can do this.

I agree, though at that point it wasn't surprising anymore, since, in my opinion at least, there were quite a few spots in the story that weren't written all that well. The whole part where Lyner meets Misha at the Tenba Lab, for example, including him not being able to remember her at all despite her having been important enough to make the ocarina.

Or how Shurelia suddenly goes deredere on him out of nowhere with him instantly switching from "I admire that person because she's taking care of the world" to "I love her" (in the binary field, at least).

I suppose the end wouldn't have been as forced if they had added Shurelia to your party earlier, giving her more time to develop.

Well, in all fairness, Lyner's amazing density combined with how long ago this happened makes this not entirely implausible. It doesn't mean he isn't still a total jerk for it, but...

Yeah, but in the Binary Field, he doesn't remember reality for the duration of the dive - he IS the character, for all intents and purposes. (At least, in the system used in AT1.) So, of course he falls for Leyla - that's what his character is supposed to do. (Similarly, it's not fair holding an RT's CS personality against her too much, since it's a raw, uncontrolled manifestation of weird parts of her personality, and most people filter those bits out of their day-to-day interactions, but.)

And yes, more development would have helped her, I think. She comes off as sickeningly tsundere and moeblob (yeah, that one crying face? You know what I'm talking about), but she HAS been through more than most people could ever imagine.

Just finished AT2 Luca's Ending, it gave me a warm a fuzzy feeling inside. This is my first playthrough and I wasn't using a guide so it seems like I missed alot of things (Didn't enter Frelia's binary field even once, when does this become available? Also, I'm missing a costume and 2 magics of my main girl, and I think I missed alot of talk topics - especially the between girls' ones)

Overall, this is an epic game just like how AT1 was. I think I'll be starting my other runs soon (still deciding whether to go for Jacqli's ending or the other main girls' ending)

I've only just completed the Infelsphere but I already consider the plot far superior to AT1 when it comes to entertainment and how much it draws me into the game.

The voice acting is superb as well, especially things like the part in the Infelsphere where Cloche starts to verbally abuse Luca and they argue whether the tsundere or the cutesy character type is best.

Also, EXEC_SPHILIA made it on my list of awesome Hymns. Mostly due to it playing during the battle vs. Cloche and me happen to use Croix' and Cocona's EX moves in sync with it. Shit was epic.

I don't think that Frelia was actually "trapped" there- if she was being held there against her will, it would have been by the Divine Army, and no way in hell would Shun have worked with them if they had kidnapped Frelia. I think she was just in the pod because she was weakened from having to basically hold up the entire Rim with her own song magic power, which she in turn had to do because the first tower shut off for a while in AT1.

Why she agreed to sing Hibernation and then changed her mind when Luca tried to stop her is something I'm not sure about, though.

The only real bug you'd have to deal with on the normal version is the Raki one, and that's easily avoidable.

I'd play on the PS2/TV, but that's just me. Especially since the graphics are mostly sprite-based and thus don't get much out of being played on an emulator.

The bug is a boss trying to use a move with an invalid name string which causes the game to hang. This boss can be fought multiple times (with the boss getting stronger each time) to get bonus CGs in the extra menu.

So it depends. If you're a completionist and would like to get every thing there is to get in the game you might want to use the emulator and avoid the bug. Otherwise, beating the boss for the first time (which is required) in under 3 turns is not that hard.

Actually, the D-Cellophane isn't a hymn crystal, it's an important component of Frelia's body that regulated her growth. Frelia is the only Origin who has a body and a mind capable of growing and changing like a human's, because of this D-Cellophane. (Shurelia and Tilia have an HD-Cellophane instead, which basically means their bodies and personalities are pre-set and incapable of change.) For some reason that's not entirely clear, Jaza, who was basically Frelia's mother figure, removed Frelia's D-cellophane hundreds of years ago, after Metafalss authorities ordered Raki to kill Jaza.

As for the other two questions, Frelia put herself into the cold sleep pod, because she was bored out of her freaking mind and lonely because all her companions had been chased away and she was left alone in Sol Marta with only Raki for company. So she stuck herself into the pod and told Raki to wake her up when there was something actually worth waking up for. Then when Infel attacked Sol Marta, Frelia was traded over to the Grand Bell as a hostage (to be honest, I really don't understand the hows and whys of this because neither the game translation or the sourcebook translation are very clear on the motivations.).

As for Hibernation, I don't think that was ever really explained, but notice how Frelia acts almost like she's hypnotized while she's singing it. My guess is that Infel was controlling Frelia after she hacked into her because she needed someone capable of singing EXEC hymms in order to link At Tonelico and Infel Phira to get Nenesha back. When Luca refused, she had no choice but to use Frelia instead. Plus it was a nice bit of revenge for her because she blamed Frelia for Nenesha's death.

My big question for all this is why the hell Shun was going along with Hibernation, especially since someone had said (though I don't know if it's true) that singing Hibernation would have killed Frelia because of the amount of power it takes. My best guess is that he thought that with everyone sublimated into the Infel Phira, Frelia would no longer have to support Metafalss and could let it drop, ending the drain on her and the danger that came with it, and the IPDs and everyone else could go hang. Shun's kind of a dick, really, though he gets better.

A couple of corrections about the D-Cellophane...


Frelia is an adaptable Origin, only because she has an AI program that served as the base for the mass-produced Betas. You could call her a beta version of the Betas (ha). Tilia also has facilities like this, but she was put back into preset mode for various reasons. Apparently the biggest one was that people couldn't imagine what could possibly go wrong with her since her extra-high spiritual frequency meant she'd be able to think of things humans couldn't even comprehend, so no-one was really willing to turn on her adaptive AI mode. (Tilia was designed to have a super-high spiritual frequency so she could converse with higher-level organisms, i.e. the planet.)

The D-Cellophane is just a preset used to load RTs and contains the basic spectrum gene information that among other things links the Reyvateil to a particular Tower. A Beta would normally always have a D-Cellophane installed in them until maturity. (The reason why Frelia is a loli is because hers was taken out when she was 13, which caused her Nuclear Triangular Loop to stop her physical growth.) When another RT installs Frelia's D-Cellophane, their spectrum gene info is overwritten with that of Frelia's; if enough time passes with it installed, Frelia's will is linked to her body until the D-Cellophane is uninstalled again. (This happened to a RT named Selena back 400 years ago.) The AT2 settings book also says you shouldn't use the same D-Cellophane for two RTs that will be alive at the same time, or their soulspaces will occupy the same location in SH-RAM, which would be, uh, bad. (I'm not sure if one would "win", essentially killing the other's mind/linking both bodies to one RT's mind which would probably drive the "winner" insane, or if they'd just conflict until they both died.)

Remember, what makes the Maiden of Homura the Maiden of Fuero is the fact that she had the D-Cellophane installed. AT2's events were always going to happen. The land was dying and was about to drop into the Sea of Death. She was only on essentially a research trip into the Heart of Gaea but eventually assisted with the creation of a fully functional, living breathing land on the same principles as how the planet exists. Frelia was loosing power and would eventually lose the ability to sustain Metafalss. They were doomed in a very short while unless Metafalica was created.

The events of AT3 could never have ended in anything other than 'The world dies. Everyone is royally screwed' if it weren't for her doing what she did in AT2 leading into AT3. Yes, in the Second Era she was responsible for destroying a significant chunk of the remaining civilisation in her war that lead to the destruction of half of the Wings of Horus and don't forget she regrets her actions on that with every moment of her life and would execute herself over it. She was not responsible for the First Era using weapons that cracked the fucking planet or the actions that led to the Grathnode Inferia which really broke the planet's heart.
