This is going to sound like a really nooby question but I honestly have no idea what to do once my enemy is in the corner. They guard and guard and then once I lag from my attacks they attack me. But when they come after me in the corner they dont seem to have that problem and proceed to butt rape me ~.~

Any help? I just had a guy sit in the corner guarding for like 30-40 seconds just to mess with me and I couldnt figure out what to do ~.~

>> No.748014

It's called mix up. Keep up a pressure of high and low attacks and eventually your opponent will guess wrong when guarding.

>> No.748026

>>747994
Well each character has different strings they can use when they have someone in the corner. What you should be doing is keeping them in blockstun as much as possible with melee attacks, and then eating away at their spirit with ranged attacks thrown at points where they can't retaliate or something of the sort. Also randomly alternate high and low melee attacks to further eat their spirit.

I know someone used f5a f5a 6c on me as Marisa and that worked well. The only way to escape it is with a well timed highjump, and if they predict that highjump they can hit you (in theory, but her upbroom special is hard to pull off).

What you shouldn't do is use a slow attack like Marisa's 6a. They just block that and then freely retaliate.

Depending on how they're guarding, you can guard break by charging 6A (guard low) or 3A (guard high). IIRC, Youmu's the only one without a 3A break, but her 5B takes 1.5 - 2 orbs on block damage, so 2 or 3 plus her regular combo (contains one low hit that takes an orb on high blocks) should crush.

That damn seal of Reimu's is ridiculous. Even if you hit her in the startup frames, the seal's still there. Even if you knock her down, it's still there. Annoying seals are annoying.

Reimu's corner lock is flawless if you just block. You have to Border Escape at some point during the string.

>>748688
If you're playing Reimu, she can force anyone into a corner if they block(also flawless if you just block, unless the character has a fast jab[Aya, Remi]) using 5AA -> 3A -> alt236B/C *air dash* -> j.5A -> j.6A -> j.5B *air dash* repeat until forced into a corner, at which point you do 5AA -> 6A -> 5B -> instant j.6A -> j.2B *fall* -> j.5A *land* 5AA repeat until they're crushed, attempt to escape by jumping out(which will fail every time unless YOU mess up), or Border Escape out(which is also extremely difficult to time, and usually fails). alt 236B/C MUST be Youkai Buster, or they can graze the gap between 3A and the firing of Homing or Spreading Amulets.

It's difficult at first, but you can learn it like second nature after a while.

You seem to be kinda scared of melee attacks. The general idea with projectile attacks is not to cause most of your damage (well, apart from Sakuya's 236 B/C, which is godly), but to force the opponent into an area where you can really lay into them with some good melee combos.

Remilia's main strength in IaMP was melee without a doubt, this probably carries over into SWR. Just get stuck into your opponent with some decent combos and you'll be eating away their health in no time.

There's a pretty big delay after the 2C so if you have an attacks that causes you to graze, would be ideal to use them right after the ghosts fly out from under Yuyuko.

Usually I respond to hjs with a j.6A or j.A to j.6A depending on how many bullets are on screen but I completely wasn't thinking today and seemed to miss a lot of opportunities to cause damage.

Pulling off 623b with Sakuya underneath that is virtually impossible; the startup is way too slow for that. I almost shit myself the couple of times it did go off.

What's the best direction to border escape with? I have trouble doing it in any other direction other than back, but that doesn't help at all if I'm pinned in a corner. Do I have to tap D as soon as I begin to block, or does the game allow me to do it whenever? It's hard to practice on against the AI since they hardly try to corner you.

Doubletap D plus any direction in blockstun. 1 or 2 is usually the best option, since they put you straight up and you can fly off, but 6 sometimes can put you through a melee attack and let you counter.

I honestly hope you don't take this the wrong way, since I mean no offense, but the reason I kept doing it is because it worked almost all the time.

You didn't attempt to block it or the j.6a's I kept doing. Even when it hit you five or six times in a row. If you had tried to block or do anything other than attack all the time, you wouldn't have gotten hit and probably could have countered.

I know how to do it, I just find it hard to move down to 1 while still having enough time to tap D. Maybe it's because I have D assigned to a loose shoulder button. Does it just take a lot of practice to get down?

Apparently you can also border escape projectiles, though I would think it would be easiest to just graze them.

Within a split second, just as long as you don't do anything else. If you're in the middle of a bullet or grazing, you have to stop COMPLETELY to turn around, otherwise, you'll start moving or grazing in the same direction and get tagged.

GGs as always. I'm really not sure what happened to cause that ridiculous losing streak I had there, but I DO know that by beating me with my own main using a (apparently) default deck, you've managed to crush any trace of self-confidence I may have had. Good job.

That's why I always do it right after a knockdown, usually just to get enough back to finish a close match. Then again, it does always kill me more often than doing anything, you know, useful, but for whatever reason I always put like four in every deck.

I would've explained it earlier if a match hadn't connected.

They're work like Megaman's Leaf Shield, except they don't protect you from shit. Summon them with 22B/C, then you can shoot one off with 22B, and all the remaining ones with 22C, max 4 hits @ 2.7k damge. Combo's pretty well into rock drills, and is hjc-able. I just lazily scored an 11-hit 3k combo with 22C, hjc.8, j.2C, j.6A midscreen. Maybe shoot them during a successful drill/sword hit...? It also appears it doesn't cake up the limit either (40%), so you can add ALOT more to a combo with it (ending with Lasers jumps it up to 3.5k damage alone). Does 2 orbs of block damage alone, and added with the lasers, 4 (depending on a rock drill, it can potentially guard crush from three moves alone). Long delay for both summoning and shooting, so it's best to summon on knockdown and shoot during a distraction drill/lasers.

Hope that was informative.
