I read Over the Rainbow yesterday and I believe it is in my top five favourite translated VNs. I searched the archive for opinions on it but it seems the reception was mostly bad but there wasn't any actual discussion on it (Though, this might be due to its short length).

The reasons I like this VN are because I feel as though it's given me a potentially long lasting impression as I had gone in expecting a moe story about a disabled girl, which it was to an extent, and perhaps nakige elements but it surprised me. I liked the moral conflict within the protagonist and how it acted more like a nagging thought at the back of his head rather than a prevailing thought that caused him to rethink his actions. I think a lot of protagonists in the VNs I've played (solely translated), should they have moral conflicts, they always try to go for the better path. However, in this case, I feel like the protagonist's morals are weak and I find a lot more truth in that than I do with those who have strong morals. I also liked how the protagonist wasn't a man who solely thought bad thoughts or a protagonist who would rationalise and gather that his actions weren't so wrong. I suppose what I mean to say is that he felt very real to me.

I liked how actions of the girl that might be considered cute if displayed differently came off as a little unsettling. However, I doubted her childish actions were that of a seven year old as they seemed too juvenile. I would expect such behaviour from a four year old.

Another thing I disliked about the game was that the descriptions of her physique didn't seem to be taken account in the CG. I was disappointed with that.

Overall, I was very pleased though. As I searched through the archive, I could only see reasons for disliking the VN centring around how the protagonist rapes a mentally retarded crippled girl and, in a way, kills her in the process but I think the way it's carried out is done well and I would expect /jp/ would be able to look over things like that.

It's pretty excellent so far.
First scene, the protagonist is stabbing a kid in the chest with a sword, just next to the heart so it didn't kill the kid immediately, and decide to do an experiment on how long the kid could live like this.
Setting seems to be that the whole world is in black and white but there is a "sickness" that give colors to people and that sickness is supposed to endanger the world.
The protagonist is the head of an unit charged to exterminate the people infected by the colors, and he seems to love his job.
And why he did that experiment? Because he killed so many people he wanted to do something different for a change.

i've been going through kogado's 'musical adventure' games...
angelic concert encore, dear pianissimo, symphonic rain (again... i think this is the 4th time now....) and solfege la finale...
i did get AS DVD too, but it seems that the file i got was a fake (the setup.exe and setup.pak files were all zeroed)... /r/ is as useless as ever so i'll take the risk and ask here... could some kind anon set me up with a working copy of AS DVD?

Last one I played was Draculius. Fucking Misao in the game really detracted my enjoyment of the final, and I wasn't a fan of neither Ido nor the old fart of the great grand uncle. Rather meh villains I thought. Climax had its moments but I didn't enjoy it as much as some climaxes of other games. I actually think earlier chapters were more fun, like the yandere waitress or Liann's chapter with that asshole student. Also Beluche should have participated more of the game, in my opinion it came out pretty silly she rarely did anything else besides talking/consoling/healing/reviving Jun, but just annihilates 30 vampires in minutes in the end.

I'm playing Tenshitsuki no Shoujo now, I quite liked the first chapter (wish it'd have been longer), but my enjoyment took a nosedive with the second chapter featuring bullying the timid girl. Am I the only one who hates bullying in eroge? There's just so many of them in eroges...

Finally done with Genrin 2, it's aged and it kinda shows but I had lots of fun with it since I'm a sucker for warring states settings, and the gameplay is still strong. Now on to Verita, I guess it's going to be kinda weird seeing Ekuria as a moe maid after she set my ass aflame more than once as Femilins.
I know the game has multiple paths, is there a canon one that fits with later games? I like to play the established storylines as my first runs.

It was serialized in Tech Gian, which is fairly large I believe.
I think it's more because of how old these chapters are is the issue and how cheap the LNs are, that people that care, wound up buying them, I mean, there's only 4 of them so it's not like you'd be dropping over 10000Y to pick up all of them.
The only LNs I've had success in getting a full set of is the various main series Polyphonica ones. Which I also need to get around to uploading.

It depends on the games in my backlog really. The more H-scenes that don't instantly revile me there are, as I feel a need to fap to all the ones on the route I'm on, and as I only have a window of time essentially allowing one fap a day due to various circumstances beyond my control, it can take me a while to get through even a short game.
Luckily though, there aren't very many if any new releases that interest me each month.

I found Baldr Sky to be pretty good, text is relatively easy to understand for the most part and as the game is very very long, there is a lot of repetition in the text which helps you learn new words/kanji.

Of course, this is assuming you know grammar. I wouldn't recommend playing a game without learning the grammar first.

Just relax. Japanese is just another language, there's no real way to "screw up". You'll get there eventually as long as you keep at it steadily and you take the time to fix mistakes. Just go as fast as you want to. And yes, Tae Kim is excellent.

I'd advise against picking one VN and sticking to it in the hope of learning vocabulary though. You'll get frustrated at the pace and be constantly annoyed when you run into lines you can't understand, especially after you start feeling that you're getting the hang of it. It's good to switch games now and then, I find that it helps, because when you switch back you might be more capable of understanding things. Of course, if you're the type who has the patience of a god, go for it.

Well I have a question: Is there a single Lilith Soft game that doesn't feature rape or mutant rape tentacles?

I'm not into rape but I love their character designs and if you removed the rape it hits on every major fetish I have.

Just finished Tasogare no Sinsemilla, it was quite entertaining. Sure comparing it to other eroges last year it didn't match the story of let's say Subahibi but still the comedy parts was funny and it managed to be quite sad at times and pretty much all characters were likable (I did get a bit annoyed at Shouko now and then even tough I really like her VA from before).

Also Sakuya is probably the best imouto character I have yet to come across and I really liked her route, in particular the part before Sinsemilla was great.
