Just the stuff I have on a shelf next to me:

Dark Cloud 1/2
Disgaea 1/2 (the PSP ports are even better, more content)
Dragon Quest VIII: Cursed King
Final Fantasy X/XII (they were actually good, though still very overrated)
Makai Kingdom
Mana Khemia
Odin Sphere
Phantom Brave
Rogue Galaxy (Highly underrated, feels like a Skies of Arcadia 2)
Shadow Hearts Triology (2 was the best one)
SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1&2 (some of the best writing I have ever seen in a RPG)
SMT: Nocturne
Persona 3/4 (not as good as P2, but still decent)

I just hated how it was presented in the game. It had potential to actually be an exciting plot twist, but the reaction the characters had to it was just so...indifferent. They more or less go "lol k" and get over it after about two cutscenes or so, so it never felt engaging.

Not to mention the big bad's motivation was completely ass backwards retarded.

The thing about Disgaea 3 was that the entire system was broken beyond believe.
If the entire post game consists of grinding endlessly untill you hit the absolute stat cap, but 3 of your stats do absolutely nothing due to being glitched - then something is terribly wrong.
Not to mention other stuff like your items sometimes not leveling after completing floors in the item world, or suddenly glitching up and loosing 1/2 of their ATK stat.

Yup, though I only really love the first game at this point. I would like to complete 2 and 3 before it comes out, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

>> No.7427646

>>7427629

I just couldn't really get into 3 because the characters and plot were so awful. They had none of the charm of the previous casts and the main group got annoying quickly. Mao felt like they tried to redo Laharl but failed. Almaz and Sapphire were about as interesting as a wet dishrag, and Champloo's antics wore out really fast.

That and a lot of the changes to the game system just made tasks from the previous games even more tedious. There were some neat ideas, but they felt poorly implemented.

In terms of characters and story, I prefer 1.
In terms of gameplay, I prefer DHD.

3 just had nothing really amazing going for it. I'm pretty excited about 4 though.
