What's absolutely stupid is if you're Christian you must absolutely believe that he's not coming tomorrow because it says explicitly in the Bible from Christ himself "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." Mark 13, 21 (this is also repeated in other gospels).

So if some jackass comes out and says May 21st 2011 the only thing you know for certain is it is NOT May 21st 2011.

The rapture is never mentioned in scripture and isn't even widely believed among Christians (I for one think it's bullshit). It was a concept created by a preacher about 150 years ago and caught on among his followers and spread to some other Christian sects.

Only fundies really believe in the rapture. Catholics do not I can assure you. Some few do because they're misinformed but the rapture is certainly not taught as Catholic doctrine.

I remember that Catholics do believe in a sort of similar event, The Final Judgement (I think it's called like that), where Jesus comes in a horse and a flaming sword and fights the devil's army with his own army of angels, or something along those words, but it sounds awesome.
