I love it when I am listening to j-pop and I hear the words 'sakura' or 'aisheteru', the only words I know in Japanese.

Anyone have Japanese words that stand out from the rest? Share them please.

I realize I'm posting in a shitposting thread, but whatever, I feel like commenting anyway. It always amuses me when I hear Japanese people throw random English words/phrases into their dialogue. Especially swear words. Just hearing a random "shit" or "fuck" or something in the middle of otherwise Japanese text is great.

I would like to take this thread as an opportunity to ask if there's anyone around here that has any actual, academic experience studying Japanese language and culture, and could tell me whether the English word "bitch" has the same weight and significance when used by Japanese, or is the impact somewhat diminished?

I know enough to stop enjoying a song I previously liked because at one point I understood it was about unfulfilled, unrequited love

It has a different nuance, and I'd say it's worse in Japanese but I'm not knowledgeable enough with the language to be completely confident in that assumption. It's not something they cover in Japanese class, at least not in mine.

I don't even know what those words mean.

In Japanese, bitch is only used in the "slut" sense. Not the "aggressive, manipulative" sense.

"You're my bitch."
not
"That fucking bitch."

Oh, that's interesting, I pretty much only asked because Jinta calling Anaru "bitch" in AnoHana seemed rather harsh, but it makes more sense now, considering how she changed since they were kids.
Thanks.

Actually, the former example is quite off. ビッチ usually means "promiscuous, 24/7 cum-guzzling penis-starved harlot".

Anyone notice how in English songs they have a lot of common verbs and repeatedly say pronouns? What's the deal with those nouns?

They're shit, and it's ironic /jp/ is criticizing jap songs. If American songs didn't repeat the chorus 50 times per song, then it'd be valid. Using common words commonly throughout songs is infinitely better than repeating the same chorus 50 times per song.
