Yeah. Tactics was kinda broken to ludicrous levels in a number of ways.

Holy crap, you actually post in boards OTHER than /v/!

>> No.7322075

Yeah, but complex yet broken gameplay mechanics are much better than simplified and stable. Even then, the game provided a challenge for most people up until Orlandu.

Oh right, TA2 was rather ridiculously easy, wasn't it? Eh, I suppose so.

Pretty much. Sneak attack is a ridiculous, ridiculous ability.

Though I think Blood Pact Summoner/Red Mages beat them out fairly handily.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2. It's the game in the pic.

My favorite broken combo was Fighter/Seer with dual wield. How you liking them AoE magic double attacks?

DAT GODDAMN BONUS DUNGEON

those frickin bastards get like 30 turns before you even get to scratch your nuts

>> No.7322222

>>7322204

I wanted to try that, but I wanted to do huge damage with my physical attacks, which no mage is really known for. I wonder how I could get a perfect Fighter/Seer with as much attack and magic as possible, would probably be ridiculous.

>> No.7322229

>>7322222
Yeah, true. Unfortunately there's not really any Human class with good magic and good melee, so pretty much anything is gonna be sub-optimal.

>>7322205
That was just because they're SO MUCH higher level than anything else in the game. If you grind up a lot then you'll get to move a lot more.

>> No.7322233

>>7322229

I can't think of anything with good melee and magic actually. Which sucks, but oh well.

Raptors are pretty good, Red Mages are decent, I think there's a couple more.

>>7322255
>>7322254
Yeah, it's an exaggeration from how ridiculously good they were in TA, and they did get nerfed going into A2. However, the perfect and elegant Frimelda reversed that nerf with a custom Paladin stat growth. Plus she's the best-looking character in the game.

>> No.7322280

>>7322263

I had her on my old file, but I don't use it anymore. Anyways, I remember my team had two humes, a bangaa, two vieras and a gria. I think. Or was it three humes with one viera? I forget. Didn't like the classes of the other races so I didn't use them.

7322303

This looks more correct.

>> No.7322341

>>7322303

So I guess Ninjas seem like the best for balanced offensive stats for Magic Frenzy, while Paravir looks best if I want to just overwhelm the enemy with physical attacks.

>> No.7322361

>>7322341
Pretty much. A ninja/Seer combo is really good and what I used, because he's very fast, dual wield (though this is pretty much a given anyways) and he basically has an at-will ranged melee attack with the 4 MP Veils, which the Parivir doesn't have.

The main problem is a lack of HP and defense.

>> No.7322440

>>7322361

I didn't know veils could be used with Magic Frenzy actually. I just used whatever -ra spell I had ready and smashed them to pieces. Anyways, I don't really care about defenses, it's all about the damage, I've got dual wield Paladin/Paravir Luso for defenses that hit hard.

>> No.7322459

>>7322440
Of course. Any MP-using spell is usable with Frenzy, meaning Illusionist skills do too...

But in any case, Frimelda's the best bet for any Paladin combination because of her custom growths. I think I made Luso be Parivir/...something, I forget which, and Frimelda be Paladin/Fighter.

Might've actually been Parivir/Thief, with all the levels gained in Parivir. Geomancy Parivirs are an awesome sight to behold, you don't even need a secondary job.

>> No.7324291

If they (1) balance the game so that no one combination is too overpowered and actually encourages variety and (2) introduce online gameplay, the next installment in the Tactics series is bound to be a great game... right?

>> No.7324297

>>7324291

I doubt it could ever be even close to balanced with some of the things some classes can do.

>> No.7324301

I agree

>> No.7324327

I don't remember having Frimelda.

Well, I had one mission left to do, but I never find it in the Inn.
Don't even remember my party, but this game lacks of Ritz.

(Also Multiplayer yeah.)

>> No.7324332

To be honest, I was disappointed that FFTA2 didn't come with multiplayer.

>> No.7324340

I didn't like the MP system in A2. I love throwing magic all over the place, so starting with 0 MP really hurt the game for me.

Competitive multiplayer? Are you kidding? A pair of Jugglers alone breaks the game.

A TRPG needs some sort of balance in order to be good in competitive multiplayer, something the FFT series never had. Ironically, Luminous Arc supposedly has a great multiplayer mode, too bad it sucks ass in everything else.

No, there totally is.

>Multiplayer is a new feature added to The War of the Lions, in which two players can choose to play together using Ad Hoc Mode. The two modes of play available to the player are Melee and Cooperative Play. Multiplayer is also the only way players can obtain exclusive equipment like the Onion Equipment.

>Multiplayer capability is also available for up to two players using a link-cable peripheral, which enables them to battle against each other and also trade items and party members. Additional missions and items are also offered when players link.
(this is in Advance)

Can't find A2 information though, and I never had anyone to try it out with.

>> No.7325101

I only played TA and TA2, but I definitely remember how ridiculously broken everything got once you had enough weapons to experiment.

Did anyone else immediately opt for the doublecasting white mage any of the games?

>> No.7325104

>>7325101
Why doublecasting white mage? That's like... the lowest doublecasting priority. Especially since they don't have Holy any more.

>> No.7325115

>>7325085

A2 only lets you trade, sadly.

>> No.7325129

>>7325104

At first I was just screwing around, but I eventually figured out about defenders with meltdown. Double-casting re-raise + meltdown made pretty much everything easier.

Or maybe I suck at strategy.
