If you entered Gensokyo by crossing the border, you'll just be yourself. Make a break for the human village, those are your best chances of survival.

If you committed suicide and somehow your spirit managed to cross over, enjoy the five minutes you'll spend in the Netherworld (naturally, far away from Hakugyokurou itself) before passing on.

I don't think the Yama looks well upon suicide, but I could be wrong.

As the number of shit threads increases, your power and even the ability to enter Gensokyo decreases.
At 0 shit threads made, you have a 1% chance of entering, and your power will be fairly high.
At 1 or more shit thread made, it is no longer possible for you to ever enter Gensokyo. And even if you do by some miracle, your power would be like that of a single blade of grass.

According to PMiSS, you actually do go to Gensokyo if you commit suicide as long as you do not have relatives(?). Just that you are a human and can be killed again.

There are many types of youkai with extremely varied powers and meeting frequencies. Some youkai are classified as their own race, but those that aren't are generally classified as youkai.

Which is confusing, but they basically fall into the "youkai (*1)" section. Rarely if ever is there any commonality in their appearance, ability, character, danger level, or even their time/place of activity. Just about the only thing in common between youkai is that they attack and eat humans. There are definitely exceptions, but many fall towards this trend.

Also, Youkai are more affected by faith. So while they can be split into 5 large chunks and survive, they can still suffer spiritual wounds.

I'm pretty sure that a large part of being a youkai is what you were before you became a one.
