Big script != long game. I'm about halfway myself going by map conquered and I think it's probably like Daibanchou in that it has tons of events hidden by obscure triggers and shit that you'll never fucking see, like not invading for 30 turns shows certain events.

And seconding the thought that the game is way too easy. I loved the challenge of Daibanchou. Not so much Rance's bullshit forced reload when the AI got lucky or its shitty character balance, but this had no fucking difficulty curve at all. Even Shaman's Sanctuary was harder, and I played through that without knowing that finishing battles with Supers gave double stat growth.

Ok, so I have played for a bit at least.

And you have funds of which you can build your own battleships with.
Each Captain can be issued 5 different fleets of ships.
Each Captain has special abillities that are applied to the fleets of specific fleet slots (so that you can chose who gets what), and these abillities improve as level improves.
You also have research points of which you use to research new shipts/prototypes, so that you can later build them with your funds.

Each ship contributes with health, speed, and power in the different categories of attack, and in certain cases special effects. Multiple attack categories in one armada means the armada gets to attack in each of those attack phases during the same turn.
The speed determines who goes first in each of the specific attack phases. Even if you have a hundered times more speed than the others, but only have attack type 4, any enemy with attack type 1/2/3 will still get to act first. Though if you were to have 1/2/3 as well, then naturally the order is determined by the speed stat.
The sum of the health of each fleet also ends up the health of the entire armada under the captain in total.

In the world map movement is limited, you can't issue anyone from anywhere to anyplace just like that, but you must actually consider as to where to place your troops so that they can reach what one feels fit.
And in combat, movement is limited and time is limited, and you have to consider how your armadas are to be distributed to best take over crucial territory of which results in stars needed to conquer the place, or territory granting special effects or loot. And how to best do this without crippling your armadas, while still be fairly certain that you can manage to get the minimum necessary stars to win.
You also get to build certain facilities whenever you take a teritory, and you have events to chose from by the end of each turn, both character related events and diplomatic and various world/territory related events. And they have choices and events everywhere even in the casual flow of the game, unrelated to the "event phase", these choices of which also affects how the game proceeds in various ways.

Now, I admit I haven't played all that much. But why is the gameplay considered bad again? Yes everything is in moon and all, but that should be redundant were you to speak moon. You certainly have to think if you want to make the most out of it. Its not exactly as if either of Sengoku nor Daibanchou were especially hard either if you didn't aim to maximize your efficiency/rewards, and I don't see how this game would fall behind those two in regard of this.

The difference is that if you were fucking around in either of those with no idea what you were doing, you were fucked. In Daiteikoku, you win no matter what you do. That's not a fun game. That's clicking buttons, watching the same missile and laser animation over and over again and expecting people to clap their hands like harp seals.

Also, it's still challenging to clear it in a minimum number of turns. You never had to do squat in the other games either, but people did so anyway due to the fun that came out of it.

Sort of. Some things are immune to lasers, so if your fleet is mostly relying on lasers, you're fucked, but things like that are about it. It's a lot like Daibanchou where factions focus on a certain kind of attacker, so you just get something better and only every now and then do you have to do anything different.

Now that's bullshit. It certainly isn't as random as Sengoku in how battle calculations can be calculated practically entirely prior to combat, but this is something it has in common with the other Dai games.

Also, you can certainly find yourself fucked in this game if you unless you take it considerably slow. (Though if you take it slow you miss a bunch of stuff, and if you are really slow for some reason, you can trigger events that makes you lose.)

Yes. In this game there is a purpose in making fleets specialized in HP, Speed, attack priority and attack power.
Then, there are the special effects/abillities.

For instance, the type1 attack strikes first. It's also more advanced and more expensive. This can be countered either by also having a fleet with type1 but also greater speed. Or you can simply go down the route of having high HP trying to tank it out.
Or you can have effects resistant to that type of attack.

In either case, you are likely to encounter most of everything in most battles, only in various scales. And this is even in individual units.
So even if you survive the type1 attack, one might fall against later type2-3-4 ones, potentially by the same unit.

But how many turns did it take? And yes, they mostly send shit troops to attack you, but that's one thing.
You know the question is how good you can attack them.
You surely know this was never an issue in the other Dai games as well, that is, unless you had misplaced/misused your troops in correlation to the number of territories in need of defense, something of which you can certainly mess up in this game as well.

The main thing is to make sure you have recovery buildings (should be obvious since it'll show a massive % like 40 or something) near front lines. Otherwise, I was just screwing around and experimenting and I didn't get into much trouble. I'm sure better focus would have made things easier, but it's not like Daibanchou at all. It would be catastrophic if it was because you can't change what's built after the fact. If you are ever short on money or HP, you can always just use your ninja to get a free full heal or instant $3000 instead of doing a character event. Since most character events don't seem to do anything that I can tell (at least gameplay wise) and there aren't star clears like in Daibanchou, you could just do that anyway.
