Hey /jp/

I'd like to ask those of you who live in Japan, are beggars relatively common in Japan's main urban cities?

I live in a metropolis, everyday on my walk to work I pass by people begging for change or putting up signs asking for money.
I don't see asian people begging either..only white and blacks. (I don't understand why)

What's it like in Japan?

(somewhat related pic, someone told me it was legit and from the philippines)

Whites too? What the fuck are they doing over there? I'm guessing otakus that ran out of money?

Phillipinos are sub humans, no surprise there

Even after fukushima it isn't as bad as in the usa.

You can make a lot of money begging in the US. People have a guilty conscience and give you money.

I can confirm your pic is totally normal in my place

I don't want to turn this into a filipino bashing thread...
I just wanted to know if beggars were common in Japan :/

You can make even more in Sweden, from what I hear.
Not because of guilty conscience, but because they have so much money, they buy you alcohol and drink with you while complaining about their day.

Look at mugen for another example of a disgusting flip.

No, there are very few beggars in Japan. Police will send them away, and people there are very good at ignoring things on the street.

There are lots of homeless people but they manage without begging

As a swedish female I can attest to this.

Britain is a good place for buskers

they spend the money they get on tea, so I don't mind giving them money

They usually stay out of public eye. The whole shame thing really stops any vagrancy like that. They have a lower rate of alcoholism than I thought they would, but I'd guess a lot of them don't report it for fear of being shamed.
