Rule 7: Avoid trolling. Please know when to stop.

Rule ⑨: Requests - If you want to download "X," check /rs/ first.
Rule 10: Reports. Don't make single-word posts saying "reported," it only leads to dumb meta-arguments about what "/jp/ really is about."
Rule 11: Images - Refrain from posting lewd or NSFW images. Ecchi is fine. If you do post a NSFW image, at least spoiler it and warn about the content.
Rule 12: Don't be a "normalfag" - Most of the users here are loser weeaboo "NEET"s. Normals are not welcome here.
Rule 13: Sage - In general, sage doesn't have a negative connotation in /jp/. It doesn't mean "I HATE YOUR POST," it's just a command that lets you post without bumping.
Rule 14: Grammar and spelling - Type coherently.
Rule 15: Tripcodes - Don't use one without a good reason.
Rule 16: Don't post an ambiguous doujin/picture without the source. Otherwise you'll start a "sauce request" shitstorm.

If anything, #2 is the first thing that needs to be followed. Lately, a lot of threads should have been ignored, but someone's always responds with a "Reported", "Get out of /jp/", etc. Just hide the thread, and move on. Sure, ignoring a problem may not not be a complete solution, but that doesn't mean we should toss more fuel to the fire.

I disagree. A daily board rules thread for the duration of summer will be beneficial in keeping new visitors cognizant of what is accepted on /jp/, and the more people who apply the rules, the more it will rub off on new visitors.

Those weren't rules, they were guidelines. Something to point to when newcomers were being ignorant about the board in an attempt to turn them native as quick as possible. We'd rather have naturalized new posters than a legion of bitter people yelling at everyone to get out, reported.

We need to get out of this siege mentality, it only eats at our souls. Most of the problem right now are not the clueless outsiders but the people from our ranks that just got bored of the same topics over and over and decided to pursue their own selfish amusement.

However, I agree that this doesn't mean we have to accommodate for their imported customs like greentext or whatever passes for a meme down at /v/ now. The keyword is naturalization, turn that poster into someone that is capable of contributing or at least lurking politely. We need that steady flow of new blood to keep the board healthy.
