mfw when I've never been to Japan before and may never get to enjoy it's wonder in my "youth" due to the time it'll taken them to rebuild.

Did any really old buildings get destroyed? It's always sad when that happens.

Shouldn't affect you unless you absolutely wanted to see Sendai for some reason. Tokyo wasn't hit awfully bad, Kyoto and Osaka are fine, and so is Sapporo. There are plenty of places to go and enjoy its "wonder".

True, but just that after a catastrophe of this caliber (numerous deaths and property damage, radioactivity) just doesn't make seem enjoyable to visit. God knows how the Japanese people are mentally doing at this point.

At least a majority of the historic areas in Japan are still intact like Kyoto which you mentioned earlier, but for myself after such an event it just takes the "fun" out of traveling there. Truly a shame what happened over there.

Many of them are worried that it will keep people from wanting to visit.

Perhaps, they definitely could use the money from tourists to help them rebuild...

But it's just that feeling that I'm an American tourist there to have fun, and then for all I know I could be talking to a couple of people who either lost someone they loved, lost pretty much their livelihood or all of their belongings or even both. Just doesn't seem right for myself to enjoy myself when a number of these poor people are suffering.
