Be sure to read his other series after you finish hitchhiker's guide. Especially the detective one.

Oh and the new guide book by Eoin Colfer isn't godawful, check it out at the library and see if you enjoy it.

from reading the reviews on Amazon I learned it was based on an earlier novella he wrote and wanted to expand upon. Some knew the vampires were coming, some, myself included, did not. I straight out yelled "what the fuck?" upon reading the reveal chapter. I liked the book and liked how the humans were scrapping away never giving in but the big reveal soured things. If you've read the "Out of the Dark" novella and liked that then you'll probably be happy.

I've got a Jacqueline Carey book lined up and I'm actually dreading reading it. I've hammered through all her previous Kushiel books and even Godslayer/Banewreaker which I didn't really like, and hell, I even liked Santa Olivia where so many didn't. The new Kushiel's trilogy is proving harder for me to like.

Uh, do textbooks or scientific journal publications count? After all, other than those, I think "A Natural History of Seeing" by Simon Ings was the last regular book that I completely read through, on my own volition.

I like how threads like these have almost no complaining despite a complete lack of relevance.
Probably due to how vital it is to maintain a sense of elitism.
