Finally finished the 2nd Aselia fandisc (the two fandiscs are the first VNs I've actually tried reading in Japanese) recently. Unfortunately they mostly went downhill after I finished Nim route in the first one. Saving Halion/Himika route for last was a pretty decent way to end it though (along with no-route -> personified Eternity Sword end)

Finished GA: ML earlier this week. I think I got trolled by someone ages ago complaining that Moonlit Lovers sucked because allegedly all the routes were about the heroine being jealous of Chitose. Then it turned out that only Mint route was like that (unfortunately she's my favorite and I saved her route for last and wasn't very happy with it). So some of them were rather Chitose-centric (Forte route), big deal.

Been playing 萌しむ (MoeSim1939) after it was sitting on my hard drive for over a year. Was a piece of cake to translate the manual and the not very large amount of text in the game compared to how lost I was when I downloaded it. Finished the Soviet scenario, H-scenes were pretty shitty and gameplay got really tedious, especially while mopping up at the end (when I loaded my game on Wednesday I expected to finish up in a couple hours, ended up taking me the entire damn evening). Think I'll take a break from it and try Born Freaks! again, likewise I had virtually no Japanese knowledge when I tried playing it previously, should be a lot better now.

Trust me, Born Freaks system is one of the worst things that i ever saw. Hours of gene getting, combining and pointless fighting.

The game story is awesome though, so if you can't endure the 30 turns, download the save and play it through the scene recollection, without the gene stuff.

I decided to try reading Souten no Celenaria last night but I ran into some annoying problems. For one, I wanted to use the partial translation patch that has the images edited (most important part for me since I can hook the rest of the text), but the torrent from hongfire is dead, and I couldn't find a fucking DDL anywhere. (Hell, I had an awful time just getting the game itself downloaded, the nyaa torrent is dead and the hongfire one unseeded, and most of the DDLs were deleted. Only managed to find it via old hotfile links in the hongfire archive, all newer links were dead.)

So I decided to live with it and hope any image text was kana, easy kanji, or unimportant. Started the game up with AGTH and a Firefox window with a text field to paste into + Rikaichan; problem is, unlike other stuff I've been playing, music/voice stops as soon as the game window focus is lost. Having the music constantly stopping and starting quickly got way too annoying to keep playing that way, so now I need a solution.

Is there any way to keep the sound going without window focus? Or any script or something I could use to autopaste the hooked text so I don't have to switch focus? (I already know that rikaichan works just fine without focus on the firefox window, I just can't avoid it when doing the pasting). Or alternatively any suggestions for a translation tool that works basically the same as Rikaichan where I don't need to change window focus? I don't want machine translation, I just need something that parses the text like Rikaichan and gives me word translations, I can handle the grammar myself.

Jparser and Mecab are enough to parse the words, but JDIC is pretty good at picking up certain names, metaphors or idioms I find.

Rikaichan has been all I've needed till now, but that issue of having to get text from the clipboard into a Firefox window to make use of it is getting me hung up for the first time. Although really that wasn't optimal anyway, having to select the old text to overwrite then ctrl-v every time I needed translation help, should probably be switching to something else anyway.

actually, I already tried playing it back when /jp/ was all over it (despite my nonexistent Japanese reading ability then) and the gameplay wasn't too bad later on once I figured shit out and was just speeding through everything. Main annoyance was the hassle of having to constantly refresh the genes every turn just to maintain your "final" set (I was so pissed when I discovered that you could only clone them a limited number of times). So I know what I'm getting into, that's why I'm switching from one tedious-gameplay VN to another instead of trying to play them at the same time. Not too many, I'm afraid. Most of the book is CGs, staff comments and some sketches. There is, however, quite a lot of rare promotional artwork that I haven't seen anywhere else. I wish the sketches were more interesting, like that Kanae eyes sketch I've seen somewhere (which is probably taken from one of the Comiket books that will never be scanned, either). Still, this is my first VN artbook (if you don't count Gekkou no Carnevale manga), so I don't feel any buyer's remorse.

Oh, right, there is some more exclusive artwork there: two comic strips that were never printed anywhere else, to my knowledge. And I actually seen them on /jp/ before buying the book, sigh.

I don't know, it looks like he will be important more because of the backstory (the whole legend/cg bits makes it seem like he lost to Vivian or her ancestor/previous reincarnation/whatever) rather than in a romantic sense. Well it's not like it's a dealbreaker, just a personal preference, game looks promising as is.

There is the scene where he is pursued in the city by that wolf/dog you see in the second opening, during that scene it seems like the city became completely inhabited.
There is the scene when Kotarou and Yoshino are stuck in the corridor that seem to loop infinitely.
There is also the fact that he entered the occult club because he was HAUNTED by some sort of spirit and all that talk about how he could feel something really menacing from the forest

And I only played the first trial, there is probably more in the second one.

The large .int files are ripped into some nonsensical files with random extensions and those are then converted to BMP files using the tools. For the BGM though, it seems to convert 4-5MB files with random extensions into 2GB files with no extension.

I usually play nukige since they're more to the point with H-scenes and I use them as intended. With hoshikaka being more of a galge, I decided to use a save file and check out one of the H-scenes. I went with Koyori's first scene (green-haired girl). Maybe it's just this one scene, but I found the writing atrocious and long-winded. The MC just sounds like a horny bastard through the whole thing (not even an, "Are you okay?" after going in. He just cums in her and says, "Oops. My bad. It felt too good."). With me thinking a game like this is supposed to be more romantic and character-driven, I actually expected a short and cute H-scene, but this was quite lengthy, and for some reason, it made me feel uncomfortable. I can't imagine that people actually enjoy reading (or writing) H-scenes like this.

I think I might be one of those guys who skips H-scenes in galge if they're all like this.
