have you ever met another touhou fan in person /jp/?

is there any way to identify one without revealing your power levels?

A few times.

The one out of the blue was when I was listening to Touhou music on Youtube in the foreign language computer lab. The guy saw the Mokou image, and so we talked to each other.

The other one was a friend of mine, who was introduced to me by... a mutual internet friend who lives in Canada. So that was weird.

>> No.7192477

Yes I have and I avoid him like the plague now simply because he never shuts up about how katanas and such are better even if they're so-so in dungeons and dragons. Though I met a few other fans that are actually kinda nice to talk with.

>> No.7192474

I was at Sam's Club, and I saw on the display marker board (the ones the hipster restaurants use, with highlighters), says I WANT TO MARRY REMI.

Such a rare occurance, in Alaska. But I think I know all of the touhou fans in my town. Fuck small towns.

Could also be a different Remi...

In my college, there WAS a touhou club. But it turned into a normal anime club. My best friend's brother started it. After he dropped out, it went downhill.

Go to an anime convention. Anyone you see cosplaying a Touhou character will either like Touhou or like it because the costume is pretty. If the cosplayer is male crossplaying, it is a 100% chance they like Touhou

Not exactly; back in intro comp course at university, some neckbeard browsing /jp/ spotted some Touhou icons on my dock and asked me if I was into Touhou. I answered that I was to continue conversation, and he went on to go "well i have a few games but they look too hard" and that kind of thing. He was just so awkward and in-your-face that I really just wanted him to stop talking to me no matter if we actually had shared interests. It was awful.

So I'm at school, minding my own business, and this guy I've never seen comes up.
And he's like "Um, hi."
And I'm like "Um, hi?"
And he's like "Wanna play 'soku?"
And I'm like "Sure!"
Then ten minutes later he's like "Your Okuu kinda sucks."
And I'm like "Yeah."

Think he was trying to pick me up. Instead we made friends.
Avoided a ton of awkward sexual tension there. Because my Okuu kinda sucks.

I was sitting at the front of class, and I noticed the guy next to me playing UFO. He was doing pretty badly, and I asked, "Hey is that UFO?" He said "uh no." I said "Oh, ok," and I've decided to just never bring it up again.

There was this girl I knew without really considering her a friend, we had some common friends and classes and I knew she was into anime and Vocaloid and stuff.

Turns out she had been stalking my YouTube (she had friended me at some point) and gotten introduced to Touhou music through it. At first I didn't think much of it at all, assuming it was a superficial interest in a few tracks here and there, but she brought up Touhou a few times briefly and it seemed as she was trying to make friends.

Now she has played most of the game and stuff, and we share Touhou arrangements with each-other. It's nicer than I though it would be.

I don't know if you've been to an anime convention panel before, but basically the panelists will describe basically what the thing is to a bunch of people who already know what it is. Then they make a lot of in-jokes about the thing. Then they usually end by talking about themselves for no reason.

In some cases you can remove the explanation about the thing and replace it with more talking about themselves.

I work as a network security guy at a nuclear reactor in Illinois. I listen to music while sitting around doing nothing all day. Music is just a general assortment of things, 80s, mainstream stuff with a few anime songs, and one day some guy came in to talk about something or another and Nuclear Fusion played. He recognized it and commented on it. We now watch anime every Saturday evening at his home theater.

Don't know if that counts as revealing my power level, Nuclear Fusion is kind of just a cool song regardless of Touhouness

I discovered Touhou in high school. Me and my friends would play SWR when we had nothing else to do in class (which was most of the time since our teachers were absent a LOT). Most of them only liked SWR because it was a fun way to waste time but hate everything else about touhou and its fandom. Except one. He has slowly gotten more and more into it, to the point that he recently started playing the game soundtracks when driving.

About meeting other fans IRL, I've only ever met one. I was driving with some friends and a couple of classmates. I put on an Azure & Sands album to piss off one of my friends (they hate everything about touhou except for SWR) and because Azure & Sands is fucking great. One of the classmates, a pretty cool and intelligent guy who doesn't speak a lot but is generally nice, recognizes it and asks me what circle is it. I tell him and he starts talking about his favorites and shows me the IOSYS videos he keeps in his iPhone. It was awesome meeting a touhou fan who wasn't an obnoxious weaboo.
