To his credit when I was banned for 2 weeks i browsed 2chan almost every night just copy/pasting everything into google translate out of sheer boredom, so it's possible.

As a frequent Google Translator user I have to say it's often counterproductive, especially for forum posts. The longer the text, the more errors the translation introduces, it's better to cut small slices (especially if you already know the basic sentence structure), since they're much more likely to be translated correctly.
