I come on this board every now and then, and I see a SHITLOAD of touhou talk.

So I think I'll create more by asking you guys what even gets you into the series?

Is it the music? The gameplay? Or is it just a fad probably started by people drawn in by the other two?

I like the setting, the games, the characters the music.
Pretty much everything about the series.
The fanbase and a lot of the fanmade stuff is shitty but I can ignore it.

I started for the gameplay, for whatever reason, then got into the music and the characters in that order. Nowadays I'm mostly in it for the music.

Pretty much this. First I heard Native Faith, then I looked into the setting. I wanted to play the games, see the source material, and challenge myself to beat 'em. When I found out about doujin music, games, and manga, I was really surprised in a good way. Even though much of it (and the fandom) is shit, I had never seen this kind of game community before. What I don't like of the fandom, I can easily ignore, and what I like I can keep. It's just more content of something I enjoy.
