Oreimo was actually a surprisingly good show. Trust me on this, you'll like Kuroneko a lot more afterwords since she sees things a lot closer to the /jp/ viewpoint than Kirino.

Also I usually really dislike dolls but these ones are really fucking cute admittedly, surprisingly so even. I think it's mostly because these guys wizened up to use faces like you'd find on normal figs, and so they don't look all off/inaccurate by having completely wrong-looking eyes/faces.

If you really can't decide, then try the coin toss trick. Let's say heads for Kuroneko and tails for Marisa. If you at any point in the process feel the slightest hope for a particular result, then you now know which doll to get! Depends on personal taste really. Size and quality can really vary but I think it boils down more to preference really.

Posted above were mainly Azone and Volks Dollfie Dreams.

Azone - 1/6 and 1/3 both available (100ish and 500+ish respectively I think)

Volks - Dollfie Dream (1/3 size, i.e. post 7191634. Price varies from $500 for scratch built to $1000 or more for image characters (mostly aftermarket, premiums attached) )

There's also Super Dollfie from Volks. They look more realistic and less anime-like. Pricing is similar to DD.

Personally I like DDs.

No, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. There are places that do it. I know a lot of the hambeast fujoshi types that collect Blythes and shit are actually quite proficient at face ups, but you'd have to interact with them so...

A new head isn't going to set you back too much, actually, but Kordox or some of the other guys here would know more about that. I only recently acquired my first DD.

Personally, I find Rinkya way overpriced in their service fees but it's been years since I used them to order anything. SMJ is much better priced and I prefer their service. Celga, another service, is known to be decent too but I've heard some really terrible stories from people so it may be best to stay away (and thirty dollars in fees for a game worth eighty-five dollars isn't really appealing.

Right now, I'm trying another shopping proxy and will give an update once I finish my transaction with them.
