You'know according to the the PCB profile, Youki left Youmu without completing her training. However, Youmu always saw this as "just another of one of the old man's tests."

For some reason, I always took this to mean that it was Konpaku family tradition that each member has to finish their training on their own and develop their own style of fighting. So in the end the number of different ghost blade styles is equivalent to the number of warriors who share the name Konpaku.

Also, the tradition would also foster variety and by having each member foster their own their own style of fighting each member's style would be tailored made to the era in which they lived in.

For instance, since Youmu lives in a place were disputes are settle through spellcard duels her style would be more focused creating magical bullets and such as opposed to a Konpaku who lived in time of war and who's style would focus more in killing and defending yourself while out numbered.

And a special treat, a depiction of young Yuyuko and a young Youki Konpaku..

This begs the question, how long have the Konpaku served the Saigyouji clan? I always assumed that it was after Yuyuko offed herself and became the ruler of the Netherworld.
However, considering that Yuyuko had the power to communicate with spirits while she was alive (and which eventually evolved into the ability to invoke death in people) and that the Konpaku are a clan of ghost warriors, it's not too farfetched to think that the Konpaku clan has always served the Saigyouji.
