I'm not sure if I should be answering this I only got this information second hand from someone who got a kigurumi, I may be wrong.

First of all, the masks you see in this thread aren't available outside of Japan. You'll have to buy one that would only be posted as a joke about how ugly kigurumi masks are.
If you still want one it will cost you around $1000 and be prepared to wait a long time for it.
Second, if you want to look like something other than a man in a weird mask you'll need padding, underwear to hold it and a zentai. These all vary in cost according to quality and will require work on your part.
Finally you will need clothing, and the kind of clothing we like is expensive.
According to the person I heard this from you should have $4000 ready just to start

It doesn't bother me what gender the person doing the Kigurumi is to be honest.

I like that they look so nice, they generally do a really good job with their costume on top of the mask. The ones that buy their masks worked extremely hard to get that money and the ones that make their own masks work extremely hard to make a beautiful mask.

They have to work hard to perfect their movements and need a damn good friend to help them with taking pictures and sometimes even just putting on costumes. Also especially good friends to help them at conventions.

TL;DR - I like them because they put in a lot of hard work, not their cock/pussy.
